Decline Of The I - Inhibition album cover

Every time I crave to satisfy my hunger for Black Metal, Agonia Records never disappoints. This time it's the debut album of DECLINE OF THE I, "Inhibition." A solo project from the mastermind, A.K. who is in various other projects and has been in the scene for a good 12 years. What makes DECLINE OF THE I different? Well this is the product of something completely off the wall that I'm not used to. It's considered Post-black metal and if you are like me you are a bit clueless of what you're in for. After listening to "Inhibition" I might have a better idea of what this genre consists of and I'm sure not everyone will be a fan of this change in music however keep an open mind and give it a shot.

Being exposed through trials of life and repressing emotions for the images that pass you by. A decline in health you become numb, "Ou Se Trouve La Mort?" appears and these thoughts began to seep through. A dark sub-consciousness leaking through the absence of action and the build-up of guilt. As each key of the piano strikes you are slowly submitting your will to yourself. A union between life and soul. With the fusion complete you are able to express yourself bit by bit exhibiting a new grandeur for life. A laughter here and a laughter there the upbeat, "The End of a Sub-Elitist Addiction" takes you to a new mode. A catchy entrance, you make your way to the auditorium and prior to the halfway point hip-hop beats appear. Beats cannot come alone without a rhythm so it maintains a melody along with it and as the applause gets louder it enters with a melodic solo fitting to the act. Upon thriving on the third quarter of the song, you explore ruins from a deep cavern as Indian ritual-like drumming is found through the exhibition -congas celebrating festivities.

This is the definite moment where you'll see the change as the name applies, "Art or Cancer?" it is a tricky little fellow and will show up when you least expect it. Like a magician I will not reveal its secret. You must take the initiative or you'll drift back from whence you came. While the fun and games have just started you realized you have gotten yourself in a conundrum as "The Other Rat" rears its ugly head. A dark depressing carnival absorbing wandering souls. Using the extract to enlighten the circus back to its eminence from the past. As you watch the events unfold you are baffled in horror as you are on a ticking time bomb. Strapped to a cold rusty metal chair, you see in the far distance another figure in the shadows. You wait in terror as the walls of every corner become illuminated with the cranking of someone's head. Louder and louder, you cannot search as it will search for you. As you see the diabolic grin, "Mother and Whore" a rising you cannot forget. A sorrowful regret but even so it cannot stop incoming death, it approaches hidden but surely the stage has been set, you cannot escape.

A needle point to the neck we reach the climax. An empty interval and grueling suspense, "Static Involution" begins to turn the tables. The clashing, a power surge creating tiny cuts onto the third-dimensional plane. An opportunity given but surroundings forsaken. A vortex generates, as impending your victory, it drags and sucks both you and the circus. Where the battle continues onward. A missing chapter, a time skip, "Keeping the Structure" a warning but luring. It comes to an end but leaving behind overlooked by impudence, a lively cocoon. Pulsating and lying comfortably in the warmth of a desolate oblivious place.

I didn't make this clear but "Inhibition" is part one of a trilogy A.K. is planning. I am looking forward to both "Rebellion" and "Escape". I cannot wait to listen to them and continue my storytelling.
