Soldierfield - Bury The Ones We Love album cover

SOLDIERFIELDis a group by musicians that most of them are known from other bands such as PARADISE LOST, BLAZE, RISE TO ADDICTION among others. The music style is mainly Heavy Metal but with a lot of modernized elements (I would say it reminds of DISTURBED and ADRENALINE MOB). Here I am covering their first release, which is an EP named "Bury the Ones We Love". It includes 5 songs and I can say from the first listening session that this new band sounds really promising.

The first three tracks are straight and in the face. The homonymous song starts with an atmospheric intro with some piano parts before the band kicks in. "Feel Alive" keeps the speeds up with a furious riff and great vocals. "Leave You In Dirt" starts with upstroke modern riffing and has a powerful groove. "Skyflower" is a power ballad with a lot of emotions and a great performance by Leigh Oates. The final track, "The Path", is another Heavy Metal song with great riffs and dual melodies.

All in all I believe that "Bury The Ones we Love" is a fine demonstration of the capabilities of SOLDIERFIELD and sets the route for a very promising first record. The band delivers a solid performance nailing each song but the vocals of Leigh Oates is for me the highlight of the record as his voice shines in all songs. The members of the band have already a considerable amount of experience from their previous bands and utilize the best of it in the compositions and the final result is backed up by an excellent mastering and mixing. The only thing that I didn't like that much is the name and how it is associated with all these soldier stories etc. after a while I think I have grown tired of these things. However, "Bury the Ones We Love" is a five track full of energy and Metal attitude record that totally deserves our attention and sets the expectations high for the first full release of SOLDIERFIELD.
