Thy Will Be Done

THY WILL BE DONE is the band of the evening, it seems. Obviously, all the other bands just didn't show up or let this one take the cake out of some sense of pity. I can't say, and I don't care. The album starts out with the most annoying ambient drivel of the year: a man screaming and shouting and whining about something I couldn't understand, while the rest of the band just slowly trudges their instruments on and on and on for about two minutes longer than was necessary. So the 2012 Award For Most Unnecessary Intro goes to THY WILL BE DONE.
By the second track's end, it was clear to me that this was a mixed bag of equal parts shit and chocolate, making it very hard to tell them apart. Basically, there is some impressive drumming to find here, but impressive drumming alone does not a great album make. As for the guitar work, the riffs are pretty much interchangeably droll. You can basically get the idea by going "DUH DUH DUH DUUUUUUH DUH DUH DUH DUUUUUH!" over and over again in a gravelly voice. Although, the lead-work does have its good parts - to be then nullified by the segments where he feels the need to just jam a bunch of notes together like a toddler discovering a keyboard for the first time.
And then the vocals. Well, they aren't good. At all. In any way. It's the ever-popular Metalcore shout that is the lamest, stupidest, fucking vocal style besides inhaling a bunch of helium and singing it that why - although that might actually be pretty funny. At this point in my reviews, I should consider making a hit list of all the vocalists who, in my opinion, fucked up what could have been decent records by holding the microphone so close to their throat that I get the impression they have a fixation with long, hard, black things close to their throats.
This is another sad inclusion into the ranks of shit mountain - the increasing pile of digital music I am amassing consisting of all the bands who simply pissed down their own legs or forgot or don't know how to be good. Sorry, whatever will you wanted done is done and done enough.
