Armed To The Teeth
Avalanche

How Australian do you want to sound? Well, in the case of AVALANCHE very much so. The music they play can easily be categorised as Speedrock versions of what AC/DC and ROSE TATTOO have stood for all these years. Hard, Heavy, straight forward no-nonsense Rock 'n' Roll that will blast you out of your chair if you haven't strapped yourself down. What makes this band unique is that the leaders of the band, Steven and Veronica Campbell, are a married couple. That's not something you hear too often. What is so special as well is that I am very fortunate to be the one that is allowed to review their debut album "Armed To The Teeth", which is released on 13 February 2026. So, if you buy this on the date it hits the shop, you can bang your way into Valentine's Day with your date for that day!
"Armed To The Teeth" should come with a warning sticker, as the intensity of the music that AVALANCHE plays is so high that people with high blood pressure might go into overdrive, causing their hearts to go boom. So, off you are of a delicate disposition, please ignore this album and move on to something more subtle. Because that is one word that is not in the vocabulary of AVALANCHE. They don't know it, neither do they recognise it, which only means that they certainly don't practice it when playing music. in just under 44 minutes that you bare exposing yourself to the onslaught that is "Armed To The Teeth" you will find out how much stamina you have and how resilient you are in avoiding sensory overload.
As this is High Voltage no-nonsense Rock 'n' Roll, you won't find hidden depths, there are no hidden agendas or extra layers to unfold. But I will tell you, due to the sheer intensity of "Armed To The Teeth" you will have to give AVALANCHE their due, as they have written and recorded songs that somehow fail to become complacent. They reveal a bit of their class bit by bit, and that in itself is quite a good treat. I'm now just wondering how a live show by these Aussies would be. I would imagine that the venues would be mainly hospitals and care homes, as a lot of the audience could end up there if what AVALANCHE is even half as intense as all the music on "Armed To The Teeth".
