Human Eclipse
Urban Dream

According to the information that I found URBAN DREAM is an alternative metal band with cyberpunk influences, formed in 2023 in Turin, Italy. As for the musical direction, I have a different view. What URBAN DREAM does is make it very hard for a promotor to do their job properly, as how do you market a band that intertwines Industrial Metal, Gothic Rock, Alternative and Pop-Rock influences into everything they do. But, as they are a new band and with the current trend of youngsters judging a band song by song, they could get away with that. I on the other hand am trying to review the debut album "Human Eclipse" as a whole. And with all the different angles being utilised, that isn't exactly easy.
What does become imminently clear is that the music that URBAN DREAM makes is more in the Rock area than Metal. It's all a bit subdued, as if they have set themselves boundaries. Even when the riffing is a bit more rambunctious, like in "Bow Down", it is held back instead of let loose. To me that is a real pity, as I feel that if these Italians had let loose, it would be an absolute banger of a song. Now it's just a decent one. The same goes for "Til I'm Done". That is now lacking that bit of explosiveness that could have lifted it above the average. I'm afraid that the decision of holding back on what is possible one of the key factors that characterises the whole of "Human Eclipse".
And even though not all the songs are as strong as those two mentioned, none of them are below par, don't cut the mustard. And even though the album doesn't touch the half hour mark in length, it really consists of really decent songs that have the deficiency of not being able (or allowed) to reach their full potential, due to a lack of a powerful and convincing production, making the album sound just too laid back instead of Heavy and invigorating. If you ask me, I would be very interested to hear how "Human Eclipse" would sound if URBAN DREAM and the producers would just take that chance and go for broke. I have a feeling that throwing away the restraints the band has erected around itself would make "Human Eclipse" come over a lot stronger, making the URBAN DREAM a lot easier to achieve.
