Light And Desolation

The world is a wonderful place, where a lot of interesting things happen. Some of those will enthral you, while others will disappoint you. The fact that you never know beforehand which is the case, you get and embrace the surprise. Well, that is definitely the case with BLIZARO, a one man band from Rochester in the state of New York.

Having been active since 2004, the artist in question, John Gallo, is ready to throw his third studio album "Light And Desolation" into the world of Metal.

I have had the disputable honour of having asked to review "Light And Desolation", because I was wondering what I was going to come across. Well, I sure as hell know where I stand now. Let's go through what I feel about BLIZARO in detail.

·        Songwriting is not the strongest point of John Gallo. He sometimes has a good idea for a nice riff, but nowhere is he able to make those ideas come together into a song that is worth listening to.

·        Musicianship. As a lead singer John Gallo is a disappointment. He just can't sing that well, plus I get the feeling that he is tone deaf. And when you add the really atrocious, plus all the voices put together sound so bad that if you need the mice to vacate your house "Light And Desolation" might be of help. As for the drums, he is not able to keep a steady rhythm, keep the pace the same for any length of time. Plus, you get the feeling that he is just hitting the toms and cymbals when he feels like it, as if there is no plan. And as a bass player and guitarist he is nothing more than mediocre, if I put it politely.

·        Memorability is negligible. This is so bad that my brain is unable to take anything in. and yes, I have listened to "Light And Desolation" a few times.

·        Production. Well, it sucks. Nothing sounds like it should. Nowhere do you get the feeling that there are any strong points here.

Before you ask, no, I had not heard any of the earlier work of BLIZARO. If I had, I would never even have considered asking to be the one to review "Light And Desolation". I'd rather jump off a plane without a parachute. This is almost 40 minutes of absolute torture.
