Miasmatic Deathless Chamber
Demiurgon
And even though the music on “Miasmatic Deathless Chamber” is so encroaching and effective in heaviness and intensity, you never get the feeling that DEMIURGON is overdoing it, is playing above or out of their league. You always have the sensation that they are well within their comfort zone.

The Italian Death Metal band from Modena, DEMIURGON, started life in 2001 as HATRED until 2014. That was the year they decided to change their name to the current one. And one thing is for sure; there is no way around the Death Metal monocle that the band has. As for the past, I haven't looked at what HATRED have done, but as DEMIURGON the band is on their third studio album with "Miasmatic Deathless Chamber", which will be released on 26 September 2025 by Transcending Obscurity Records. And I have the pleasure of writing this review before the album has hit the shops and sites.
DEMIURGON is a traditional style Death Metal band that has a lot of associations with the sound that sometimes will have you thinking of how early MORBID ANGEL used to sound. DEMIURGON are able and willing to use the same kind of riffs, musical rhythms and intensity. On top of that they dare to change speed when and where it is appropriate. So, no new age kind of emotional outbursts or quiet passages. Nope, on "Miasmatic Deathless Chamber" you get just over 35 minutes of unadulterated Heavy hitting Old School Death Metal that will have you forgetting there is a world around you, especially when you let this noise pierce your ears through without interruptions, i.e. your headphones. That is how and when you get to appreciate the many layers that the music harbours, the intense but claustrophobic feelings the music of DEMIURGON draws out of you.
And even though the music on "Miasmatic Deathless Chamber" is so encroaching and effective in heaviness and intensity, you never get the feeling that DEMIURGON is overdoing it, is playing above or out of their league. You always have the sensation that they are well within their comfort zone. But that is also what is making me a bit hesitant when trying to rate this album. It is strong, it's not lacking in making you enjoy and undergo the Old School Death Metal, but it also never has you get the goose bumps that would arise if and when you are confronted with something out of the ordinary. If they had a song or two that would jump out, that would have been the icing on the cake. But hey, it is what it is, and I still enjoy listening to what DEMIURGON has to offer on "Miasmatic Deathless Chamber".
