"Oh My God!!!" These where my first word when I heard the first track "Brumlebassen" and no wonder this was my reaction: I hear bees... everywhere!!! Damn those bees!!! Anyway, these seven crazy Norwegian men (Like the 7 dwarfs from the story about Snow White... ha ha), gave me the chance to hear what is a true Balkan Metal. These guys leave me no choice but to crown TROLLFEST as my favorite original band of the year. I mean, no one create an album about bees... Now, that's 100% originality.
So, one weekend in 2004, in Oslo, Norway, a bunch of goons became bored with the selection of party music that was available to them, and, helped along by the consumption of large quantities of alcohol, the soon-to-be members of TROLLFEST decided to take matters into their own hands. One website and six songs later, a German label, which at the time was called Solistium, recognised the potential in the madness and got in touch. With the immortal words "what the heck, let's give it a go" TrollfesT agreed to a deal and started writing new material. By 2005 "Willkommen Folk tell Drekka Fest!!" hit the streets. And life as we know it was never the same againmadness and got in touch. With the immortal words "What the heck, let's give it a go" TROLLFEST agreed to a deal and started writing new material. By 2005 "Willkommen Folk Tell Drekka Fest!!!" hit the streets and the rest, well, you know...bees....
Now, I'll be completely honest with you, dear readers, I'm not a fan of growling. Never was, never will be but even if I were, I would understand a word because well, I do not understand Norwegian and I'm sure that only Norwegian Metal fans understand this album which isn't good, TROLLFEST, if you want to become world-wide group. However music, especially Metal, is global and therefore I'd refer only to the instrumental work of process and not for the vocals. Sorry, Trollmannen (Vocals).
So, It's very unusual for me to a Metal album which contains instruments such as Accordion and Saxophone but I must say that it give the Metal genre a new point of view and a fine addition to TROLLFEST and specific to"Brumlebassen" - Very authentic and almost exotic nature.
Another bee... Damn it!!!!!!!!
How many times am I going to ask for more and more guitar solos?!?! TROLLFEST, you have, among you not one but two (!!!) guitar players: You could have done amazing solos combinations and harmonies with these two fine gentlemen: Mr. Seidel and Per Spelemann (Guitars). So please, consider this "one of kind idea" of guitar solos...
What I loved about "Brumlebassen" is the funny short parts. It's hilarious besides the fact that I have no idea what is it all about because I don't understand Norwegian but it break the ice of the heavy parts of the album. So I'm out to buy some anti-bees spray and hope for the best in a meanwhile, you all are welcome to listen to this unusual album. Enjoy.
