Sepulchral Curse

Sepulchral Curse plays blackened death metal. A Finnish band, that stand out a bit, not that melodic form of music. They are more classic death, and black metal band. This is their third full-length, they have been around since 2014. Kari Kankaanpää has a more guttural growl, and sometimes they have a lot of extreme metal feeling to their music. The weird thing: they do some beautiful melodies, that comes like a surprise in their music.
Crimson Moon Evocations is a strong album, in my opinion their strongest so far, very good production quality, and they have more melodies than before. The genre is not made to have that "perfect"sound, it must be a bit cruel. The opening track "Wildfires" gives you a perfect example of what's to come. Fast riffs, but have a bit of doom over it. The drums, has such a perfect sound. They do so much, for the atmosphere on the album. "The Locust Scar" is just awesome, a lot going on in the track, and even if it's wild, fast, it has so much atmosphere. It's hard to find a band to compare with, and I will not do it. It would be impossible to go track by track, and it's hard to find the right words to justify what I hear.
For example "Empress of the Dead" is a track that start, like doom metal ...but we are son back in black death metal, another track where the drums do so much, for the atmosphere on the album. Of course, like 90 % of the Finnish metal, Sepulchral Curse has great musicians, and on this album, you can really hear it. And it sounds, like the bass guitar has an own distortion, a bit 80s Thrash ? "The Currents of Chaos" and the last track on the album, "Crimson Passages", sound like part 1 and part 2. Strong lead guitar on both of them, "Crimson Passages" is one of my favorites. This album has so much to offer, and each time you listen, it gets stronger and stronger. Ok, Sepulchral Curse is an extreme metal band, but even if that genre is something you normally don't listen to, they are really worth a try, and for the fans of this genre, you will love it.
