“Power Train” incudes all elements of very good Power Metal: the guitar riffing, the pace, the double-bass, the catchy melodies, the epic and anthemic choruses, and the lead guitar solos

MAJESTICA hailing from Boden, Sweden were formed in 2019. Before, there were active as REINXEED for almost 20 years. The symphonic Power Metal band release their third full-length album. “Power Train” was mixed and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren (AMORPHIS; BLOODBOUND; DYNAZTY). The album has a length of about 47 minutes, and it was released via German Metal specialists Nuclear Blast. The album starts with the title track, and it is a fast start with powerful guitar riffing and catchy melodies. The orchestral arrangements contribute well to the track. The vocals vary around the medium end of the vocal range. The choruses of “Power Train” have not only catchy melodies, but there are also some epic parts in it, and they are almost anthemic. The extended lead guitar solo is very contributing. “Power Train” is a great opening track, making appetite for more. “No Pain, No Gain” continues with the melodic Power Metal attack. It is a dynamic track at mid-tempo and the focus is put on delivering catchy melodies with sing-along choruses. “No Pain, No Gain” is an easy-to-listen track with a simple verse/chorus structure. “Battle Cry” is, compared to “No Pain, No Gain”, a much heavier track with tight guitar riffing and plenty of double-bass drumming at mid-tempo. The vocals are versatile and include a few higher pitched notes. The orchestral arrangements are prominent during the extended break with an excellent lead guitar solo at the heart of the break.

Battle Cry” is one of the album highlights, and no surprise, the track was released as video with the YouTube link being provided below. “Megatrue” offers a change in sound. It is a heavy track at a measured tempo at a sluggish rhythm. The guitar riffs are thunderous, accompanied by crushing basslines. The bridges leading to the choruses come with background vocal support as well as the choruses. The background vocals contribute to the track very well and give it an additional layer. The break introducing the lead guitar solo are played at mid-tempo and is driven by the strong basslines. “Megatrue” is one of my favourite album songs. My Epic Dragon” starts with a short and epic orchestral introduction, leading into a mid-tempo verse part at a galloping rhythm. It is a track with catchiness in the melodies and almost anthemic choruses. The vocals use mainly highly pitched notes, contrary to most other album tracks. The orchestral arrangements are notable during some parts of the track. The melodies during the break have a few classical vibes. The extended lead guitar solo is, besides the vocals, surely the highlight of the track. After the epic journey of “My Epic Dragon”, “Thunder Power” is a bit more direct, darker, and heavier. It is a fast track with tight guitar riffing and a lot of double-bass drumming. It is a traditional Power Metal track with heavy verse parts, anthemic chorus parts, and an excellent lead guitar solo in the middle. The Power Metal attack continues with “A Story In The Night”, which is arguably the fastest album track, driven by the flesh-ripping guitar riffs and the relentless double-bass drumming. The melodies during the chorus parts are catchy and have a few 80s HELLOWEEN inspirations. The break is introduced at mid-tempo, but it does not take long to go back to insane pace for the extended lead guitar solo. “A Story In The Night” is my favourite album track.

Go Higher” starts with a short intro, leading into the verse part at mid-tempo. The guitar riffing is powerful, and the strong basslines drive the track forward. The melodies are catchy once again and the chorus lines are sing-alongs. “Go Higher” is surely a song at the softer end of the album and cannot quite keep up with most other album tracks. “Victorius” goes back to the dynamic Power Metal sound. The guitar riffs are tight, and the melodic framework is catchy and epic, especially during the chorus parts. The orchestral arrangements are notable during most parts of the track. The final chorus part is introduced by the background vocals and is surely inspired by a QUEEN classic. The album ends with “Alliance Anthem”. Starting at crazy pace driven by the double-bass drumming, it transitions into a mid-tempo verse part. The fast pace is quickly picked up and the guitar riffing is heavy and tight. The album ends with traditional Power Metal driven by the guitar riffing, the double-bass, and, of course, another extended cool lead guitar solo. “Alliance Anthem” is another album highlight and a good way to end the album.

MAJESTICA deliver Power Metal at high quality. “Power Train” incudes all elements of very good Power Metal: the guitar riffing, the pace, the double-bass, the catchy melodies, the epic and anthemic choruses, and the lead guitar solos. All is kept together by a very versatile vocalist. “Power Train” shows that MAJESTICA have matured in songwriting. The album is well produced. Although it is still early in 2025, I predict that “Power Train” is one of the Power Metal albums that will be remembered at the end of the year.
