Jeopardy Room

Nasty Savage

All the ingredients that make "Jeopardy Room" into the NASTY SAVAGE area of expertise are there. Nothing is run of the mill bog standard Thrash, no, it has all kind of twists and turns.

NASTY SAVAGE is one of those bands that always impressed but neber made it into the big leagues. This band, which hails from Brandon in Florida, USA, started life in 1983 and has had a stop and start career until 2016. ever since then they have been active, and those eight years is in fact not the longest run of all of them. That was the one from 2002 until 2012. But who knows, they may catch up this time. The third longest continuous run was that from 1983 until 1990 , but that was also the most productive of all. The albums they gave us during that first run, “Nasty Savage” (1985), “Indulgence” (1987) and “Penetration Point” (1989) are still considered as some of the best Thrash Metal albums of all time by the select group of followers of NASTY SAVAGE. After that we had to wait some 15 years until in 2004, when we heard the music that was on another good album, knowingly “Psycho Psycho”. Unfortunately that didn't have the impact the first three had.

Now, after a 20 year wait, we are being blessed with the fifth try at Metal World Domination, and the result that is now blasting through my speakers is called “Jeopardy Room”. Let me start by putting your mind at ease; this is very typical NASTY SAVAGE material from start to finish. For me the one thing that really has changed is that the songs are just that bit more accessible than what the band did in the past. But do not fear, all the ingredients that make them into the NASTY SAVAGE area of expertise are still there. Nothing is run of the mill bog standard Thrash, no it has all kind of twists and turns. As for "Nasty" Ron himself, he is as clear as water in his lyrics. First of all, you can still recognise and understand every word he sings/shouts. As for the messages in the songs, they are just as transparant and straight forward.

What I do like is to hear some of his peers coming through. “Witches Sabbath” sounds exactly as if the guys of MERCYFUL FATE wrote it. The music would fit them down to a t. As for the lyrics, they will surely remind you of KING DIAMOND. There are more of these bits flying around, but the most of them are very subtle and short. But most of all the music is rather good up and until very good. In short, “Jeopardy Room” is a real and proper NASTY SAVAGE album that has my heart pounding, my blood pumping, my head banging and my therefore my smile widening.
