Angels Of Babylon
Aquarius
Angels Of Babylon were started by drummer Kenny Rhino Earl (Manowar/Holyhell),vocalist Dave Fefolt (Hawk,Masi and Firewolfe),bassist Dave Elfson (Megadeth) and Boston guitarist Ethan Broth. Released in 2010 the first album “Kingdom Of Evil” with album number two released in 2013 “Thundergod” featuring Rhino performing all vocals whilst drumming as well. In 2023 Angels Of Babylon was reformed with a whole new band Alex Stephens and Kevin Burns on guitars, with Ned Meloni on bass and Rhino continuing vocal and drumming duties. Rhino playing drums whilst singing is something to behold, with the live experience something you would not want to miss. Rhino continues to tour in Europe with his Italian band.
“Aquarius” gets this third album off to a great start a fast tempo track with some edgy, crunching guitar riffs blending well with some keys 5 synths to give the track a melodic metal/power metal feel. ”Stormzone” is a more heavier gritty style track from the outset with that classic heavy metal sound & theme with a great guitar solo. The album then takes another twist with a mid tempo track “I Rule The World” starting with a dramatic intro, slower paced with a heavy riff with some blistering guitar runs. ”When Spirits Fly Away” a mid ballad hard rock track has a great synth and keys touches with an orchestral element which make this track an epic affair with some great vocals from Rhino. ”I Believe You” picks up momentum tempo wise , but has more of a melodic feel to it then heavy metal particularly in the chorus. ”Zachery” a highlight track on the album for me builds with a beautiful and anticipating keys & synth intro when then kicks into a heavy melodic track with some of the most powerful ,emotional vocals soaring in the chorus an epic track over 7 minutes long with an epic guitar solo “Into The Darkness” is a heavily synth based track at the starts bursts into life with a mellow synth interlude which then bursts into some great guitar work, which is displayed throughout this album ”Fallen Ones” concludes this album fast tempo, hard hitting pounding drums ,guitars synths a great way to end this album
“Aquarius” is a easy listening power metal, heavy metal and melodic album which does not disappoint. With this album there are no gimmicks its just straight up metal delivered musically and vocally .Definitely an album worth listening to or purchasing, Hopefully on the back of this release their will be a tour .I would love to witness Rhino play the drums and sing some of these powerful songs at the same time!
