De Facto De Jure
Esodic
The Middle-East is a region where Metal seems to grow, because more and more countries there have bands. No matter religions or governments, they’re arising and defying rules, even on countries where playing such musical genre is a crime that is punished with death (the fundamentalist ones, and remembering that not all Islamic people is a fanatic that wants to force their beliefs to others). And from Jordan (now active on USA) comes the trio ESODIC, here with their new release, the 4-track EP “De Facto De Jure”.
It's easy to put the trio under the banner of Thrash Metal, but with influences from Middle-East Folk music (pay attention to the percussion used on the intro and on some moments of “Consequence”) and even with some touches of Death Metal (pay attention to the harsh tunes of the vocals nearer a kind of grunt and many blast beats and double bass drums parts). It means that’s not a pure form of Thrash Metal, but it’s full of personality and different musical traits that is really amazing. It’s different and culturally rich, but heavy and aggressive to the bones. On the sonority, it was built to have a brutal and aggressive outfit, but clean and defined to boos the understanding of what’s being expressed. The sound impact on the ears is amazing, and can cause pain to the less used to such kind of sonority, but’s clean and really very good.
“Consequence” is an aggressive song rich on Middle-East elements and on guitars arrangements weaved under a heavy and massive rhythmic work. The tempos become slower than on the previous song on “Dirge”, again with some Middle-East touches and elements, but with snarls and screams piercing the bitter ambiences. On “Reign” the band brings something with a Death Metal tendency (due the excellent blast beats of the drums) entwined by Middle-East chords. And “De Facto, De Jure” brings a band into a pure Thrash Metal outfit, with the decrease of Middle-East musical influences, but with a massive rhythmic work of bass guitar and drums.
It's incredible that “De Facto De Jure” is just an EP, because ESODIC deserves an entire full-length. And if you’re a fan of Thrash Metal, you must hear this music!
