Season of Evil

Wasted Death

A very good anc chaotic mix between D-Beat, Grindcore, Death Metal and Hardcore is what this trio delivers.

There are moments when musicians just become bored of relying on formulas that they just kick the fuck out and start something so insane that’s impossible to label. It can be explained by the fact that models constrain the creative power of some, so they do what they want, as they want, and give a big fuck off to anyone. Maybe it can explain what bands as NAILBOMB and GO AHEAD AND DIE are up to, and this is the chaotic way that the English trio WASTED DEATH is up to with “Seasons of Evil”. The band’s guitarist Wayne Adams is responsible for the production of the album, giving it a noisy and filthy approach, but in a way that understandable to the ears (due the choice for the instrumental tunes and definition level). All was done to fit on the musical ideas of the trio, and it can be said as perfect for their music.

The band has three experienced musicians on it, and the main idea is to unleash chaos in form of music mixing influences from D-Beat Hardcore, Hardcore, Grindcore, Death Metal and more an experimental insight, like putting influences of SEPULTURA, MOTORHEAD, NAPALM DEATH, DISCHARGE, THE MELVINS and EXTREME NOISE TERROR in the same boiling cauldron. It’s filthy, depraved and grim, but always hooking and intense spewing tons of energy on the ears of the hearers with no mercy. Be prepared, because these guys aren’t kidding with their music! “T-Virus (Corpse On)” has a more classical Hardcore/D-Beat way mixed with some nasty outfit based on sickening guitars and scream; “Wirehead” has a short and nasty flow of insane energy boosted by bass guitar and drums; and mixing Death Metal, Grincore and Noise comes “Brain All Rot”.

“Dogs On Hind Legs” is another massive dose of energy spewed in the heads and ears, with Noise experimental appeal; “Selfish Enough to Suck Air” has a more slower and atmospheric appeal to increase the filthy and greasy feeling of their music. And “Stratofortress” (one of the Singles of the album) depicts a more Hardcorized/Thrash Metal appeal in some parts that’s hard to resist to.

On “Nation of Mouthbreathers”, the sick and nasty side of their music becomes evident to anyone, but plenty of experimental parts. And bringing back some hooking Hardcore influences comes “Keeping the Lid On”, with screams and snarls filling all the spaces. And closing the album comes “Wasted Death by Wasted Death”, a grim and nasty song filled with many slow parts, and tons of fun D-Beat dirty irony. Noise and disturbing, yet depravedly fun, “Season of Evil” comes in a very good time, to show people that relying on formulas can tear apart the fun that music brings to our lives. And WASTED DEATH deserves applause for it.
