All to Dominate
Strigampire
The album tackles various themes such as personal struggles, global issues like economic inequalities and social injustices. Grief is also one of the subjects explored on the album. Despite this, the prevailing messages conveyed in most of the lyrics are about perseverance and courage to keep moving forward despite hardships. I strive to write introspective lyrics, expressing emotions like sadness, frustration, and anger, but also hope and determination. The lyrics encourage listeners to reflect on their own lives and take action to overcome the obstacles in their path. Listeners can expect an album that addresses universal themes.
“Liberty” is first. The pacing, guitars, and vocals for me are a cross between Thrash Metal and Death Metal, and the riffs are always on the move. The bass work is excellent, as are the harmonies in the guitars. “Dominate Them All” is a bit slower, and has a groove from the bass guitar parts. Let me just remind listeners…bass guitar is often an instrument that gets lost in the mix, but it is essential to a band’s sound. The drumming is excellent here as well. “In the Maze of the Lost” is even slower, and the power of the riffs and bass comes out more here. The drums are working overtime, and the vocals are shredding.
“Where I Belong” is thick with sonority, and the band plays with tight musicianship. I am starting to get more MeloDeath sounds from the album now, and the band combines a few styles deftly. “Basking in Paradise” is another song that goes for the throat, and so far, the band is not letting up on the intensity at all. It’s pedal to the metal, headed out at 100 miles per hour. “The Day I’ll Join You” has a similar sound. One thing that they could work on so far is a little diversity on the album. The songs are intense, and one after another of the same fervor can result in the album running together a bit.
“Brave the Tempest” has a more melodic sound, and speak of the Devil, and he appears. This is exactly what I was talking about, and the diversity is nice to hear. The lead guitar work is fantastic as well. The closing song is a cover of the infamous AC/DC song, and I love their gritty take on it. Overall, I liked the album. They don’t mince words, that’s for sure, and they just push the gas pedal to the floor and come at the listener with an unbridled energy.
