"What I am aiming to create with THE OLDEST HOUSE is the feeling of facing a huge wall of static that is creeping slowly towards you," explains A.M., "a rumble so deep that surrounds everything it touches and shakes it to the core. A blinding light that you can almost touch, a frequency that is as primal as it is maddening." The album has five songs.

 “Objects of Power” is first. The opening tones are heavy, slow and tinged with electronics, and what follows are shouted vocals along with desolate guitar tones. The sound turns angrier with guttural vocals that introduce filth into the song. The title track is very low and slow, like Doom Metal but also with a twist of Black Metal, and the vocals impart a feeling of absolute hopelessness. It then picks up, with meaty bass notes and gutturals. The wall that he talks about slowly creeping towards you is real, as is the tension in the music.

 “A Worm Through Time” rumbles forward with a fuzzy riff and harrowing clean vocals, and suddenly I feel like I am in a church waiting to witness a bloody sacrifice. The guttural vocals are just as beguiling. It segues into “Interdimensional Mold,” which has keys that give it an outer space feeling…something vast, and the tension is so thick, you could slice it with a knife. As the song continues, I am constantly looking over my shoulder, afraid at what I might encounter, but the moments of levity almost make you unconcerned.

 “The Painting on the Wall” closes the album. A slow and fuzzy riff lumbers forward with a steady supply of monotone vocals. It takes a swift and sharp turn after the half-way mark where the rust falls off. Overall, I found the album bending between genres of Doom, Black Metal, and even elements of Hardcore at times. There are desperate, hopeless tones that paint a picture of a doomed life, and you have to fight hard against the urge it imparts to overtake you.
