Head Up High
The Batallion

I had reviewed a band with the same name a while back, but it turned out that this one is a totally different band, and judging by its line up a damn interesting one. THE BATALLION was formed in 2006 by members of already well known bands, driven by the hunger for the spirit of the old Metal feel as they claim.
The Norwegian quartet is comprised by members of bands like OLD FUNERAL, BORKNAGAR, TAAKE and DESEKRATOR. These blacksters have filtered their blasphemous background through a totally old school Rock & Roll filter, creating a sound that travels you back in time. "Head Up High" is all about straight in your face music, with simple, yet passionate songs full of headbanging challenges! If you are into stuff like AUDIOPAIN, NOCTURNAL BREED and AURA NOIR then you will surely find many interesting elements in here. Yeah, this is the album you will be listening to when you empty every single bottle of beer from your fridge.
So dig up your bullet belts and patches and don't forget your moshing attitude! "Head Up High" may not be the most amazing Black & Roll work I have ever heard, but it surely is a damn fine release for fans of Black Metal and the old school straightforward sound in general. Damn you nostalgia...
