Hello everybody! I'm Dave Rotten from AVULSED/ XTREEM MUSIC, and as some of you may already know, my wife Verónica has been fighting cancer since March 2020, when she underwent surgery for a tumor in the lacrimal sac in her right eye. The eye had to be removed, since it was impossible to remove the tumor from it, and after tough sessions that included chemo and radiotherapy, the thing seemed to stabilize in the following periodic controls, until, at the beginning of this year, the tumor reproduced, this time somewhat higher up, in the ethmoid area (inside the browbones) and in March they not only had to remove a large part of the nasal septum, but then, in another operation, very complicated indeed, they had to open the skull in its forehead, to be able to access there.

In the same operation, they already knew that it had not been possible to reach the entire affected area, so the tumor remains were going to continue to reproduce and very quickly, indeed. Actually, there are two tumor areas, one in the initial site and another in the ethmoidal area that is already affecting the dura mater (covering of the brain). The tumor is spreading very fast, so we are already in a very critical phase in which something must be done immediately.

Social Security says that they can no longer do more in terms of surgery or conventional radiotherapy, and they urged us to consult options for private healthcare, where there are more means and it looks there is a neurosurgeon who is capable of reaching this area, but before she need to get a Proton-therapy treatment, something that did not exist in Spain until two years ago and currently only two clinics have it, so we are already processing everything with the Navarra University Clinic, the most advanced in Spain in cancer and one of the most prestigious in the world.

After consulting neurosurgeons, oncologists, radiotherapists, ENT, plastic surgeon, they have decided to give proton therapy first before operating on the tumor area of the lacrimal sac, which is the one that is most urgent, but if they operate, it will take some time to heal and the protons cannot be applied in the meantime, so the tumor would continue to advance in the brain area, and we have no time to lose, so we are going to take that risk.

The main handicap is money, as almost always in this life, and that is that proton therapy is awfully expensive! we are talking about 60,000 euros! Obviously, we do not have this money, or anything like it (we live from day to day, and we are autonomous. Besides, Vero is on leave, of course), and as we are going for it, we are going to try whatever, as long as there is a possibility!

Verónica's life is in very serious danger, and it is urgent to start with this therapy, so, we ask you to help us with what you can to try to pay for the treatment as much as possible, and if we do not reach the goal, at least whatever we can get, will be welcome.
