" One Small Spark Can Cause An Explosion"
Metalcore outfit ISKRA (with members from Halcyon Days and Vargvrede) from Horten/Oslo, Norway is back with a brand new album, 7 years after they split up back in 2012. early August premiers the singles "The Oath" and "The Alchemist" from the "5 years in the making" new album 'KALEIDOSCOPE' that will release August 9th.
About the record:
A spark with a core, soul and spiritual lyrics with hope, ment to cut through our materialistic surface, so we can see what we are truly made of.
This record offers personal reflections and interpretations around themes like faith, life and the "burden" of being a human being.
Some lyrics are clear, with referances to religious thoughts and scripture, while others are more open for the listeners own interpretations.
"Vampires into doves", follows a story about a vampire, that does not want to be one, and his inner struggles with this. The lyrics is a metaphor about human error, and the costs of admitting your mistakes, asking for forgiveness and reconciling.
As a clear counterpart lyricwise is the track "Judas" that dives into the mind of Judas and try to interpret his betrayal from his side.
The betrayal of friendship, the regret and the consequences.
"The Alchemist" is a track that themes around a spiritual perspective.
The world around us is passing by and our ethical values and creativity is pushed more and more aside for the digital world and routine.
Are we about to loose ourselves or is it on the brink of going to far?
Will we become "machines" or do we just need to find our playful side again to see the context of things.
Is everything around us pre determined and carved in stone from birth?
"The Oath" is a track with clear referances to our ancestors wishes of how life should be lived. Do we just dive into the community or throw ourselves into the unknown and follow the road paved from the prophets of the past.
The track is a depiction about the feeling of letting go off what we know and let the unknown lead the way to a just and happy life.
