I love bands that don't give a shit about anything other than playing music and doing their own thing. And when a band is mostly a live one and likes to play music for the hardcore fans that follow them all the years they are on stage.

ENGRAINED is such a band; they come from Germany , they are active since 1992 and are still around stronger than ever. Their new EP, called "Anger, Roots And Rock N' Roll" came to bring us exactly what the title describes: anger, roots and rock and roll, the whole album smells of booze and the energy that emanates from each track makes the whole EP the perfect soundtrack to a night in the city with lots of alcohol, sex and mayhem a perfect combination if you ask me.

ENGRAINED play an awesome combination of punk-induced rock and roll that reminds me of days gone by filled with classic punk and hardcore, one could also find something of early MOTORHEAD in the five songs of the EP. Without any restrain and from the first track called "Traitor" ENGRAINED bombard with pure rock and roll riffs and hardcore drums and base lines; a combination that this band knows very well and the songs come out powerful and heavy. Actually, although to some it might seem that the sum of the five songs is not enough, I believe that with all the energy coming out, five are more than enough. Each song is as powerful as the other and even the cover song is perfectly tied to the rest. Vocals are harsh, guttural and deep, without any mistakes and this can be also credited to the production; although I don't know if it was intentional but the production seems a little rough, well even better to augment the rough feeling of the album.

I believe that ENGRAINED with their new album manage to remind the scene of some forgotten roots, I know that they are not the only ones but out there we could use some more of these kind of bands though.
