EGONAUT is a new band, with a not that long history, with one EP on their back and a bizarre cover on their second one. I didn't exactly knew what to expect from those four guys. I was informed that they play old school Hard Rock, so I had an idea I my head. Pressed the "play" button and started to read the small bio.

The band is Fredrik's child, born in 2005 when he "...became sick and tired of ploughing through the underground metal scene with nothing to keep him company but a pair of tight leather jeans and more double bass drums and falsetto screams than he could stand", as their bio says. His friends Markus and Kristofer came to the band to complete its first lineup. The Swedish press welcomed their first demo and their first EP "Soundtrack To A Fistfight" with great words. So after some lineup changes and many mini tours and festivals appearances, EGONAUT are here with their second EP.

The only disadvantage that I found here is that...it's only an EP! The first song "I, Me, Mine" is a great opening. Old school Rock, with the organ at the back giving a 70's atmosphere and a groovy feeling all the way. "Bulletproof" is hitting the throttle, a more up tempo rhythm can be found here and with the organ having the lead role. And then we have "Quicksand", a mid tempo composition where the stoner feeling is everywhere with the heavy riff. The great chorus is one of those that you sing for quite a time after the EP is over. The solo in the middle of the song, starting with the wah-wah, is great too. And last but not least my favorite one, "A.W.S". The first riff with the more metalic one, and after that, when the rhythm section starts to play, you have a punk rhythm with a heavy riff following. To tell you the truth, I was ready to start pogo while I was driving!

"Circus Egonaut" is a great EP. Four songs full of energy and those guys is obvious that are having fun while playing. I'm looking forward for their first full length album. I think that the big labels should give them a chance.

P.S.: I really liked this EP, but since we are dealing with only four songs I think that a 6,5 grade would be appropriate. But since we don't have halves...
