Forest Oblivion - DEMO

Veil reminded me of Fates Warning! And I am not talking about the music but about the actual geographical distance between each member of the band! Each one of the four members now lives in a different city (because of studies). I guess that makes their life kinda difficult...
Veil was formed back in December 2003 in Karditsa, Greece. So far they've managed to have the same lineup, except for the departure of original vocalist Stathis that has been replaced by the band's bassist, Aristoteles. So far they've had one live show in their base of operations, Karditsa. Finally one more info I got out of their bio is that this Demo was recorded within three days.
For a three days work, I have to say they have managed to achieve an honest sound. Of course there are several details that need more attention but still the sound is ok. Regarding the music... well, they are not my cup of tea since they play a mixture of Doom, Black, Atmospheric Metal; quite pessimistic. Some clean vocals are fit in nicely plus the intro and outro do manage to add lots of atmosphere.
The biggest problem however is the colorless sound they've created (maybe the production made things worse) but in the end I didn't manage to hold on to at least on one song (ok, maybe the one with the acoustic guitars was kinda cool). They definitely need a lot of work in order to make an impact in the future. The combination of music they've decided to follow demands a strong personality. I am definitely interested in listening more of their work (hopefully soon).
