ECHO COLLECTIVE PLAYS BURZUM'S "DAUÐI BALDRS" (BE)
Once again Veneration presents a highly exclusive act. We dare say, no metal festival has ever presented something as
unique as this! As we all know, Burzum's "Dauði Baldrs" was programmed as midi sounds by Vikernes while in prison
in Norway. This will be the first time the album will be played in its entirety on real instruments: violin, cello, piano,
clarinet, contrabass and percussion. Echo Collective, an orchestra of seven people from Belgium, now arranged the
album for acoustic instruments; the goal is to give the piece new life, both dynamically and musically. In essence setting
it free to be performed, recorded and re-released. Though Burzum and Varg Vikernes are controversial by nature,
performing this piece allows the music a second life, and asks the important question: where does art and the artist cease
being one? The result is a piece of music rooted in black metal, but influenced clearly by classical music minimalism,
medieval tonality, and symphonic form. It is a piece that can touch a wide audience and bring new listeners to both
classical and metal music.

INQUISITION (USA)
After six years of isolation and contemplation in the darkest dimension beyond space and time Inquisition returns to the
black metal temple Baroeg! Sulphuric fumes will emanate during this unclean ceremony of sonic blasphemy. Inquistion
are the kings of darkness.

GOD DETHRONED (NL)
God Dethroned is here to unleash the great global fire! We are proud to present God Dethroned as the first headliner for
Veneration 2017. The band released their controversial debut "The christhunt" in 1992, followed by the two albums
"The grand grimoire" and "Bloody blasphemy" which quickly became black/death metal classics in the Dutch scene.
God Dethroned is one of very few truly significant bands in Dutch metal history, so expect a bloody blasphemic
pinnacle of aggression and grandness under the silver moon of Veneration V!

MERRIMACK (FR)
A pestilent air rises from France. Founded in 1994, Merrimack belongs to the most influential, most active and authentic
bands of the French black metal scene. For however much black metal continues to be co-opted, commercialized, and
crassly made into a (marketable) parody of itself, there exist true aesthetic terrorists with such fanatic ideology and
frightening vision to keep the genre "grounded" ' in the dirt, in the grime, of the soul... Merrimack is one such band.
The band is currently recording the successor for the amazing "The acausal mass". For fanatics of Watain, Funeral
Mist, Deathspell Omega, Hell Militia.

NAHTRUNAR (AUT)
All hail the genious Austrian cult Nahtrunar, for they chose Conspiracy of the Damned as their altar to perform one of
their very first ever live rituals!

WROK (HELL)
Wrok was one of the most obscure and possessed acts in the 90s. The band released a couple of demo's and rehearsals,
the most notorious being "Ontgravenis" in 1996 but called it quits after a few years. Now, the band litterally has been
exhumed and recorded a new LP called "De onheilsbode" with old songs only, which will be released before the
festival. Wrok from HELL plays disturbed and sick primitive Satanic black metal, for fanatics of Bestial Summoning,
Apator, Heretic, Ildjarn.

ASGRAUW (NL)
Straightforward black metal with good melodies, sometimes sounding like old Emperor. An aggressive and raw band,
yet with tons of melodies and carry a very strong emotional atmosphere.

WRANG (NL)
Wrang is a new project from members of White Oak (rip) and Weltschmerz. Expect aggressive and painful pure black
metal with both melancholic and venomous thrashy parts. For fanatics of Angantyr, Gheestenland, Mortifera, Burzum.
