The Rock For Roots Festival was initiated more than ten years ago by members of the Association Of Semnons in order to support the historic village Gannahall and also present metallic music at the same time.

The association is a club interested in the European pre- and ancient history, especially the region Berlin and Brandenburg. It is their goal to make history come to life with a village museum near Nauen, which is in the planning stages as of now. The village will demonstrate what life was like around the turn of the first century of our time reckoning. Back then the area was inhabited by a German tribe called Semnons. There already exists a similar village museum in Berlin Düppel presented in a similar fashion. The "historic village museum", named after the semnonic seer Ganna, has yet to be built. Therefore the benefit festival "Rock For Roots" was called into life years ago. All profits from this hard rock festival will directly go to the association of Semnons. In the summer of 2012, the local government of Nauen has agreed to the binding site map at Ludwig Jahn-Strasse 22G and now the construction work shall commence.

Berlin's Blackland club support with the festival organization. This cooperation will continue with the 14th rendition of the festival.
