Under Reprisal
Threat Signal

Whoa, these guys are fucking heavy! Canada once again delivers the goods with this butt-wipping act that really made me wana blow my speakers (hey, that sounds familiar...) away. Threat Signal is a fine combo (like hamburgers) between Soilwork / In Flames / Messhugah and Bon Jovi (well, not really the last one). Their debut really impressed me.
The Ontario based act formed back in 2003 and as soon as they grouped a stable lineup, they recorded a Demo titled Rational Eyes in 2004. The band's success took shape when they posted their Demo online on a known Metal chart. The great response drove them to record three more songs that also gained high rankings. It was more than obvious that it was just a matter of time before they got a deal with a record label.
Listening to Threat Signal one can realize that these guys have done their homework in the most precise way. Influences from the bands mentioned above are so dominant that it is easy to mistake some of their songs with other original material. The tricky part however is that even though they adopt all these elements, the outcome is fresh and original, giving a delicate personality to the band's sound.
And damn, the vocalist sounds like a mixture of Bjorn Speed Strid (Soilwork) and Phil Anselmo (Pantera) and that really jacks me off! In conclusion, this is a really interesting case of a band that mixes known sounds and delivers a fresh outcome. Respect!
