Winterfylleth – The Imperious Horizon
October 6, 2024
The mix of instruments on the album was nearly perfect, pairing guitars with keyboards and others. There was a familiar sound here, but also one that forced you out of your comfort zone a bit. More of the latter would have been welcomed, but it is still and excellent album done at the hands of experienced musicians.

Shrapnel - In Gravity
July 23, 2024
I will mention to the people who already know and love SHRAPNEL that they have once again produced an album that is worthy of their admiration. On the other side of the spectrum, my view for those who haven’t embraced SHRAPNEL yet is to give “In Gravity” enough spinning time to be able to either grow on you or not.

earthtone9 – in Resonance Nexus
July 3, 2024
This was a solid album, and the fact that all of this sound comes from a trio is commendable. But, there is room for improvement. The band has the talent, and the drive, and a nice sense of melody development. However, if we could hear more of their personality in their music, it could have easily gone to an excellent release or even higher.

The Infernal Sea – Hellenic
April 3, 2024
The good? The band isn’t without talent, and at least try to present some variation in their music. The not so good? Too many of their songs sound similar. Look, Black Metal can be very inventive, but you have to make a commitment to giving yourself to your music, and not presenting what the fans might expect.

Ihsahn – Ihsahn
January 13, 2024
For me, the album was like a project in extremes, contrast, and the uncommon chord progressions that define his career. The music touches each extreme, from tender, sweet passages to ones that bite with the fangs of a viper, and you never know what is coming next. His compositions are masterful, as always, and this far into his career he shouldn’t have a bag so deep and vast, yet he does.

Shade Empire – Sunholy
November 19, 2023
I have heard a lot of Symphonic/Melodic Death/Black Metal over the years, but not with this much energy and enthusiasm. It’s all about the balance between the competing sounds, and the band has found that perfect formula.
