HyperioN - Cybergenesis
January 7, 2026
HYPERION isn’t the next band to take over the world, but they are a band that has the ability to please and entertain a lot of (mostly) old fashioned Metal fans with the music they have provided us with on “Cybergenesis”. And because they have been able to provide the record with a very clear, transparent, but above all contemporary sound, a lot of the young Metal afficionados might be quite willing to not only give this a go, but also their sign of approval.

Urne – Setting Fire To The Sky
January 7, 2026
On “Setting Fire To The Sky” URNE demonstrates that they are able to show different sides of themselves, whilst the sound and foundation available will convince you that you still are listening to the same band. What makes this an even listening experience is that all the songs bring a lot of quality to the turntable, making it very easy to like and/or admire this album.
review
Pagan Altar - Lords of Hypocrisy (Reissue)
January 5, 2026
PAGAN ALTAR might not have conquered the world with this album, I do believe that, judging by what I am hearing on “Lords of Hypocrisy”, they did and do deserve a whole lot more credit than they have had throughout their career. And in that respect, you have to applaud Dying Victims Productions for pushing the boat out by airing this album for a second time.
review
Teutonic Slaughter - Cheap Food
January 5, 2026
TEUTONIC SLAUGHTER is able to translate their thoughts into bloody impressive songs that have that bit of an edge to them, you just can’t help but enjoy all 36 minutes that they are making a lot of noise.
review
Spriggan Mist - The Glare
January 5, 2026
According to the information sheet that comes with the music SPRIGGAN MIST is a band from Bracknell in the UK that plays Progressive Rock/Folk. If you then open the homepage of the band, you will see that they categorise themselves as a Pagan Folk Rock band. Well, let me put your mind at ease, they are both right.
review
Defaced - Icon
January 5, 2026
I really like what I hear, as this is not the kind of straight forward Death Metal that just goes without nuances. Nope, if anything DEFACED loves using different influences in their music.
review
Jim Peterik & World Stage - River Of Music: The Power Of Duets - Vol. 1
January 5, 2026
What JIM PETERIK has done right is couple the right singer to his person, making all the songs sound nice from start to finish. And as usual in these genres, the musicians all have that quality that makes sure that the instrumental side of things is above reproach, that it can’t be faulted.
review
Brazen Abbot – Guilty As Sin (Reissue)
January 5, 2026
One thing that you can be sure of with BRAZEN ABBOT is that the songs that you will listen to are not only very well put together, properly written with a good and solid structure, but also with some good bones. Most important of all, I believe that band leader Nikolo Kotzev has chosen wisely when he was deciding who was going to sing which song.

Bastard Skull – Bastard Skull
December 30, 2025
BASTARD SKULL hails from New Jersey in the USA and have just released their debut album “Bastard Skull” at the beginning of 2025. They did that on their own accord. Now, at the end of that same year the label WormHoleDeath has picked them up and has decided that a rerelease through them is in order. And in order to add to the pleasure of the music the label decided that the addition of the EP “More Dread” that came after the album was more than justified.
review
Ptolemea – Kali
December 30, 2025
What I have hear with “Kali” is the second album of this Alternative Rock band, the debut being “Balanced Darkness” from 2023. I haven’t heard that one, but I have a feeling that is about to change, as to me what PTOLEMEA brings on “Kali” is nothing less than interesting, and at times even bloody good.
review
Stargazery - Carnival Puppeteers
December 30, 2025
I think there are enough people around to really appreciate what STARGAZERY plays in the 53 minutes that make “Carnival Puppeteers”. Oh, and look out for the two covers, from DIO and DEF LEPPARD. they are quite alright...
review
Urban Dream - Human Eclipse
December 30, 2025
What URBAN DREAM does is make it very hard for a promotor to do their job properly, as how do you market a band that intertwines Industrial Metal, Gothic Rock, Alternative and Pop-Rock influences into everything they do.
review
Sabaton - Legends
December 21, 2025
There is not one wrong note on this album. All the songs are well balanced, very easy for the ears and most of all, of a very high quality. I can only applaud what I hear on “Legends”, as SABATON have once again given you a completely finished product that is ready to be admired.
review
N.Y.C. - Built To Destroy
December 21, 2025
It is clear for me that N.Y.C. comes over a lot stronger, makes a lot better impression when they play loud and straight ahead. That’s when the class and their experience shows itself, when they really have an impact with “Built To Destroy”.
review
Treat - The Wild Card
December 18, 2025
The songs themselves are simple and straight forward, they just come to the point. If you are looking for intricate structures, for different sorts of breaks and/or all kinds of variety in a song, forget it. If you want all those ingredients throughout the record, you are in for a TREAT, as “The Wild Card” has all that in spades.
review
Zero Tolerance - A Test Of Strength
December 18, 2025
A Test Of Strength” is a solid, decent but also extremely entertaining album. I doubt that ZERO TOLERANCE will achieve world dominance with this album but I am sure that they are going to gain a lot of praise from a lot of Thrash and Heavy Metal fans.
review
Sacrifice – Tears
December 16, 2025
If you ask me, this Japanese version of SACRIFICE should have been at least as big worldwide as the Canadian Thrash Metal band with the same name. There can’t be any doubt at all that these guys were capable of writing and recording bloody good music. On “Tears” that gives us over 44 minutes of beautiful Heavy Metal.
review
Paragon - Heed The Prophecy (Reissue)
December 16, 2025
PARAGON is an American band from Springfield in Ohio. These guys only existed from 1987 until 1992/1993, of that no one is exactly sure. In those times they played pure Melodic Progressive US Metal. Apparently, they wanted to sound like some of the big US Progressive Metal bands.
review
Blossoms Fall - La Alma
December 15, 2025
It is all just too neat, too controlled. I never get the feeling that the band is throwing everything they have at me, that they are holding back for future references and/or releases. If they are, that’s their bad, because that means that they are forgetting that you can only make a good first impression once.
review
Oathbound - Colors In Grey
December 15, 2025
Even though it all sounds rather nice, it also sounds very clean. A little bit too clean for a pure Metalcore band. The thing is that if you add the moniker Melodic in from of it, the whole description would make sense. Not that this is purely Melodic, but it doesn’t go as Hard and Heavy as Metalcore bands usually do.
review
Paganizer - As Mankind Rots
December 15, 2025
Because there is no two ways about it; every song that PAGANIZER plays on “As Mankind Rots” hits the spot just right. In just under 40 minutes time the band has made sure that the songs they write have that underlying tension that comers with the territory, whilst also allowing the listener to adapt to every tune with a great deal of ease.
review
The Skelters - Con Man's Chronicles
December 12, 2025
This is Hard Rock at best, but it is the variety that will transport you back to the seventies in sound as well as atmosphere and feel. That can be a good thing nowadays, as it gives the whole listening experience a much more analogue and therefore honest approach. In that respect THE SKELTERS got everything just right.
review
Sterbhaus - Next Akin To Chaos
December 12, 2025
Musically you can place STERBHAUS as a Thrash/Death Metal band, and that is as accurate as you can get. And if you ask me, for a trio they are able to make a lot of sensible noise, as that is what has impressed me most about “Next Akin To Chaos”.
review
Speedclaw - Stardust
December 12, 2025
Even though “Stardust” will never be my favourite album of all time, it is one that I will treasure and enjoy when I hear it passing me by. It just confirms to me that SPEEDCLAW have done good in choosing this as their musical direction.
review
Return To Darkness – Eternal
December 12, 2025
What RETURN TO DARKNESS does is be themselves, to play the kind of music they like, without trying to emulate or copy their peers in any way or form. And what they have produced has been brought together on “Eternal”. Bloody good stuff, if you ask me.
review
Centinex - With Guts And Glory
December 10, 2025
I have to say that after listening to “With Guts And Glory” I was disappointed that there weren’t any more songs on the album. I feel that with less than half an hour of new discoveries the audience could feel they deserved a few more tunes.
review
Evil Scarecrow - Silicon Tea
December 10, 2025
Did you know that submarines can have feelings too? Well, if you listen to opener “Nuclear Fallout Machine Sentience” the band will set you straight on that one
review
Human Fortress – Stronghold
December 10, 2025
Musically there is no way around the way HUMAN FORTRESS plays their music. this is Epic, this is Power Metal, and these guys are very well-equipped to bend what they make into a shape that fits them down to a T. There isn’t a song that doesn’t fit, there is no note that has been put wrong, there are no mistakes or mishaps on “Stronghold”.
review
Jet Jaguar – Severance
December 10, 2025
While the songs are clearly the most important part of the process when they write their music, they also never forget to have fun while doing so. That makes that especially guitarist Ariyuki Saddler gets the chance to demonstrate his techniques.
review
Greystone Canyon - Something Borrowed…Something New
December 4, 2025
The name of the album is quite fitting. “Something Borrowed…Something New” relates to the fact that half of the songs are covers and the other half new songs by the band themselves. GREYSTONE CANYON has released two albums before this one, and the 2024 one called “Iron & Oak” got a perfect rating from my colleague “Metal Mark” Garcia. He rightfully wrote that these Aussie have a knack to sound like they belong in the seventies. And that they also really know how to play and make songs sound good.
review
Mezzrow - Embrace The Awakening
December 4, 2025
“Embrace The Awakening” has been produced at a very good and transparent level, which allows you to hear very instrument in detail. It also has been given enough punch to make sure that all the songs that MEZZROW has put on this album has the right amount of energy, excitement and power.
review
Soulfly - Chama
December 4, 2025
Gone is the jumping up and down from the early years, only to be substituted by a much more Industrial Metal vibe, whilst keeping a little bit of Groove Metal vibe, but also a little bit of Thrash Metal atmosphere in there. It makes for interesting listening, as to me this sounds like Max Cavalera is trying to recreate the effect that NAILBOMB had some thirty years ago.
review
The Acacia Strain - You Are Safe From God Here
December 4, 2025
“You Are Safe From God Here” is over 38 minutes of panzer-like tank-worthy deafening and explosively deadly Deathcore. Because if one thing becomes clear, it is that the band have only gotten Heavier, a lot more menacing and almost lethal in their approach to how they write and play songs. There is only one way to go; to be as destructive and devastating as is humanly possible.
review
Not Fragile - One Way To Glory
December 2, 2025
I have also reviewed their debut EP “Who Dares Wins”, and you’ll find that as the one next to this one on the METAL TEMPLE site. What I get from listening to their debut EP as well as this compilation album is that NOT FRAGILE has been very constant in the quality of their songs. Nowhere are they superb or out-of-this-world brilliant, but neither can you catch them being subpar at any time at all.
review
Kill Ritual - In My Head
December 2, 2025
Musically the band have evolved in such a way that it will be easier for new admirers to step in, whilst those who already liked what KILL RITUAL did so far will be able to continue their admiration. “In My Head” is that good, yes.
review
Sweet Freedom - Blind Leading The Blind
November 30, 2025
SWEET FREEDOM? Really? So, this is not RAINBOW, or DEEP PURPLE? It’s not even WHITESNAKE or even MSG? And the singer isn’t JOE LYNN TURNER or his little brother? Are you sure? Well, if you are sure, I’ll go ahead and review this as the debut album by this current version of SWEET FREEDOM.
