Infernal Cult - Necessity of Unreal
October 21, 2024
All in all, INFERNAL CULT’s “Necessity of Unreal,” is a nice surprise so close to the end of the year. It’s familiar enough for fans of the genre to be accepting but unique enough to appeal to a wider audience.

Blood Incantation – Absolute Elsewhere
October 19, 2024
The album delivers a stunning display of balance—an artful contrast of light and dark, chaos and control, both musical and existential. It masterfully balances aggression with melody, showcasing a rare ability to create harmonies that soar over deep, guttural growls and blistering guitar work, a testament to the band's technical prowess and deep understanding of composition. The pacing of the album is impeccable, transitioning seamlessly from relentless assaults to reflective, constantly in motion. With each listen, this balance becomes more profound, revealing layers of complexity and nuance that make it one of the most compelling metal releases of the year.

Cober Mouth – Untethered
October 15, 2024
COBER MOUTH claim to play Nu-Metalcore, whatever that may be. I suspect a combination between Nu Metal and Metalcore. If that is so, I can tell you that Nu-Metalcore is quite accurate.

D-A-D - Speed of Darkness
October 15, 2024
For those who are not familiar with D-A-D, the4ir musical style is Hard Rock, with a definite AEROSMITH vibe running through the songs, with (of course) some AC/DC parts thrown in for good measure. And then they add their own musical influences in the blender. This mix gives them a sound that is very much their own, very recognisable, but also very accessible and extremely easy to listen to.
review
Satan - Songs in Crimson
October 15, 2024
But I can hear in the sound of the guitars that SATAN is smiling. He is seeing that the world is going down fast, and that his kingdom and reign is about to take hold. That might explain why the riffs on “Songs In Crimson” sound less menacing than they usually do, instead they sound more upbeat.

Wicked Maraya - The Mystic Demos
October 15, 2024
As for the musical direction, please forget what the band WICKED MARAYA was doing on their debut album, as MYSTIC is cut from a completely different cloth. There is nothing Epic about what I am listening to on “The Mystic Demos”. What we have here is a band trying to impress by playing straight forward and rather fast Heavy Metal, or what we now would call it Traditional Heavy Metal.

review
RedFace – First Blood
October 11, 2024
REDFACE’S debut album “First Blood” is a powerful and intense offering that showcases the band’s ability to craft music that is both sonically impactful and thematically engaging. From the raw aggression of “Trash from the Gods” to the dark, apocalyptic visions of “Breath from the Lord of Chaos”, the album takes listeners on a visceral journey through themes of environmentalism, greed, and the consequences of human actions. “First Blood” is an impressive debut album from a band that is poised to make a significant impact on the metal scene. REDFACE has created a collection of songs that are as sonically devastating as they are thought-provoking, and it will be exciting to see where their music takes them in the future.

Thirteen Goats – Capricorn Rising
October 10, 2024
THIRTEEN GOATS “Capricorn Rising” is a unique Extreme Metal Rock Opera blending Thrash, Death, Grind, and Heavy Metal as it follows Shepard the goat-skull wearing Antichrist, on a mission to overthrow humanity. Lyrics are dark and intense, with violent imagery and apocalyptic themes. This album displays the band’s impressive technical skills and genre pushing creativity. I would definitely recommend anyone to check this album out, as with its deft blending of so many styles, everyone can find a piece they like about this band.

Grave Heresy - Incineration Victory
October 8, 2024
GRAVE HERESY
is a Swedish death metal outfit that emerged onto the scene in 1996, characterized by rapid-fire rhythms, powerful guitar riffs, and aggressive vocals. Their latest album,
"Incineration Victory,"
showcases their evolution while staying true to their roots, reflecting a relentless energy and commitment to the genre. The album begins with
"Sarmat Dawn,"
featuring a distorted voice announcing impending destruction, setting a surreal tone for the brutality that follows. Tracks like
"Attenuating The Flesh Threshold"

Necronomicon Ex Mortis - You and Your Friends Are Dead: Game Over
October 8, 2024
NECRONOMICON EX MORTIS
’
"You And Your Friends Are Dead: Game Over"
is a horror-fueled metal EP that skillfully blends aggressive riffs, vivid storytelling, and grim atmospheres. From the apocalyptic foresight of
"The Dead Zone"
to the chaotic resurrection in
"Jason Lives"
, each track dives deep into iconic horror themes with intensity and creativity. The band balances brutal instrumentation with dark humor, particularly in
"Leprechaun
's" grotesque fun, while
"My Bloody Valentine"
and
"In The Mouth Of Madness"
plunge into psychological and cosmic terror. Paired with cover art depicting a carnivorous plant feeding on industrial pollution, the EP reflects humanity’s self-inflicted doom, thriving on the decay of destruction. It's a solid, enjoyable release for fans of horror and heavy metal alike.
