Summoning Death – Tombs Of The Blind Dead
December 2, 2024
"Tombs Of The Blind Dead” offers an outstanding mixture of brutality and darkness, inspired by a Swedish chainsaw sound of the guitars, relentless drumming, and brutal deep-lying growling vocals

Damaged – Under Siege
December 1, 2024
I can’t help but think that if DAMAGED would have had just that bit of luck, they could have made quite the impression, because I really like what I am hearing. The songs are strong, powerful and full of variety without ever losing face of the fact that they need to imprint themselves on the audience. And they do. “Under Siege” is good stuff.

Explorer – Chainsaw Anthems
December 1, 2024
I can only say that I am still enjoying listening to “Chainsaw Anthems”, as it does give me an insight onto another piece of the Heavy Metal history of the Lowlands. And that is something I as a real Metalhead will always treasure.

Saor – Admist the Ruins
December 1, 2024
Consider alone all of the various instruments that went into its making, and that guitar was not the focal point. Each composition was filled with strings, pipes, and other instruments, and each one was grandiose in an accessible way. Let “Amidst the Ruins” take you on a journey to ancient times, and ancient lands, and give you just a little escape from your humdrum life.

200 Stab Wounds - Piles of Festering Decomposition (Reissue)
November 27, 2024
200 STAB WOUNDS play Extremely Gore Death Metal with the vocals to match. You just have to look at the covers of their albums to know that nobody and no body is spared. This slaughterhouse experience is a sadistic butchers paradise.

Aries Descendant - From The Ashes Of Deceit
November 27, 2024
As soon as the intro “From The Ashes Of Deceit” starts you are expecting warriors to stand up and point their sword to the skies and start shouting about True Metal.

Grand Magus - Sunraven
November 25, 2024
“
Sunraven
,” further proves that
GRAND
MAGUS
is one of those bands that will give you what you see. And there isn’t a thing wrong with that. I wish more bands were as consistently badass as
GRAND MAGUS
. If you’re a fan of the band, “
Sunraven
,” will please you and then some but if you lost track of them for whatever reason, this will definitely pull you back in.

Big Muff Parade - π (Pi)
November 25, 2024
Smart arrangements, fucktons of fuzz groove, and even a splash of Prog sophistication. Gotta love this band, gotta love this album.
review
Warpstormer - Warpstormer
November 25, 2024
While the cover, and even their monicker, suggest a fuzzed-out Stoner trip, what we get is a ripping Thrash attack underpinned with the down-tuned sensibilities of Doom. Think THE SWORD gone Thrash.

review
Kildonan – Embers
November 23, 2024
This was an album with potential, and you can easily connect with the themes mentioned above. It was Black Metal really only in the sense of some of the backing vocal screams, and took on a more doomy quality for me.
review
Múr – Múr
November 22, 2024
This is a very promising debut album, and they have almost reached the pinnacle already…but not quite. They do nearly everything right on the album except for varying the pacing of the songs. They set out with a boundless vision of where the music can take them, and don’t put any restraints on themselves, and that is a good starting point. But the crawling nature of the songs holds back the total advancement of the album. Still, this is a band to keep an eye on for sure.
review
Oranssi Pazuzu – Muuntautuja
November 21, 2024
You first question should be, what do you call this music? Take a look at the album cover for your first clue. There are dark and twisted shades of black, grey, and white, and if you look at them from just the right angle, you can make out some distinct forms, or can you? It’s amorphous, just like the music. Part Black Metal, part Industrial and Psychedelic, part Experimental, and even part Progressive, but wholly original and unique, it expands the boundaries of music into bold and brave territory. It’s an obvious candidate for album of the year.

Deadform – Entrenched in Hell
November 20, 2024
There are some odd elements on the album, and that is sometimes what you can when you cross different genres like the aforementioned four from the biography. It’s out of the box thinking, which I always appreciate, and it’s probably something that all Metalheads should hear at least once, to see what direction some bands takes genre mashups.

Entomophthora – Instinctual Disease
November 19, 2024
I found this album exactly as advertised…a thick wall of Death Metal with modern elements. The duo are quite talented, and are able to shift through riff and meter changes without missing a beat. Any fan of Extreme Metal will find this to their liking, because it is uncompromising and relentless in its assault.
