Ghost Atlas – Dust of the Human Shape
January 1, 2025
As a music consumer, if you don’t slow down occasionally and look around, you can easily miss albums like this. It’s a simple album in terms of instrumentation and vocals, but it is so effective at waking up the inner self that you have choked down so far you never thought it was possible. Forget labels, just leave all your musical conventions at the door and explore “Dust of the Human Shape” with the kind of innocence and wonder that you had as a child.

Moon Wizard - Sirens
December 30, 2024
Pro tip for this album: Headphones are a must. And not that crappy pair that came with your phone—I’m talking noise-cancelling, over-the-ear bad boys that will immerse you in the liquid smoke that is MOON WIZARD.

"Burn In Metal” is very raw and aggressive Speed Metal with Thrash Metal elements. The album sound is a very monotone with little versatility and hardly any technicality
interview
Benjamin Guerry: “Lovecraft may be the sixth member of the band. It's always music first, but Lovecraft is part of the band, you know? He’s part of the lyrics, part of the concept, part of the emotion. Lovecraft is The Great Old Ones and The Great Old Ones is Lovecraft.”
December 29, 2024
The Great Old Ones is a Lovecraftian Black Metal band out of Bordeaux, France. Yes, the same place that makes that awesome elixir the world consumes like blood. The band is dedicated to stories and legacy of H.P. Lovecraft as well as the dark sensibilities of Black Metal. On January 24, 2025, the band releases their fifth full-length album which was reviewed in Metal Temple on November 18, 2024. Gary Hernandez, writer and editor for Metal Temple, recently caught up with founder, vocalist, and guitarist Benjamin Guerry to discuss the band’s love of H.P. Lovecraft, their latest album, "Kadath," and what lies in future for The Great Old Ones.

Grimaze – The Heart of a Collapsing Star
December 28, 2024
This was a good album, with an impressive display of musicianship, but if I point to one piece of constructive criticism, it would be to add some more variety and flavor to the already strong base of songs on the album, or maybe vary the vocal delivery. Either of these two things would augment the album.

The Man And The Abyss – Wrapped in White
December 26, 2024
There is just something about the darker side of life that seems worthy to explore, but its hidden doors, passages, and secret rooms are areas that are locked away in your subconscious for reasons. This album beguiles you to open them, and promises no pain, but the warning in your head tells you otherwise, and you had better let sleeping dogs lie.

Paragon – Metalation
December 23, 2024
There is no doubt what kind of music PARAGON plays. It is Teutonic Heavy Metal through and through. This is just as German as the Oktoberfest, Currywurst and Bratwurst. “Metalation” is the fourteenth studio album the band has made since 1994, and I have to say that it is a belter.

Overt Enemy – Insurrection
December 19, 2024
Hot damn, who is this trying to blow me away from the get go? It is OVERT ENEMY, and opening song “Resinated” has a very strong riff and an immense intensity that makes you take notice, whether you want to or not.
review
Forndom – Moþir
December 19, 2024
I appreciate the minimalist approach to the music, because it allows the layers to be stripped off and the core is left for the listener to enjoy. The core here is both somber and prophetic, and it hints at a world we all know is coming, but we push it down deep inside to avoid the confrontation.
