In order to find a way out of reality, there is nothing better than finding that way in order to leave it behind, or at least dormant. Escapism is the way to do it, and if there is Sci-Fi involved, there is a lot to explore. It wasn't the first time that Steinmetal and Nightbearer's Dominik Hellmuth had a chat about the philosophy and musical experience in relation to the band. Now, with the release of the band's new album, "Ghosts Of A Darkness To Come", shows an even deeper meaning, and experience that is the next step of old school Death Metal.

Martin Missy - (Protector)

Simplicity loves company, and fans will rejoice. To be proficient and technical in knowledge and ability isn't everything, it is how a song that one writes is built and how it inspires. Old school Metal will never change its ways, apart from the modern edge that always seeks the next best thing in line to capture attention. It was already proved that the former will continue to expand and become relevant again, and the existence and activity of the German Thrash Metallers, Protector is one of many sources of evidence. Releasing their new "Excessive Outburst Of Depravity", there is old school for everyone and brutal. Steinmetal had a good talk with the band's longstanding vocalist, Martin Missy, about the album and the old school spirit.

Long Distance Calling
are a four piece band from Germany as they came together in the year of 2006 and were heavily influenced by the likes of
PORCUPINE TREE, LUNA
and
ISIS
as they adopted an instrumental sound around a time when the post rock or instrumental bands were in full flow in the UK, Europe and the US. It is astonishing that the band have indeed come up with such a sound which I found very interesting as they produce their albums with mostly no vocals, however some tracks do feature vocal snippets or excerpts from sci fi films for all the sci-fi fanatics out there haha!

in 2006 and their follow up
AVOID THE LIGHT
in 2010 certainly gave a good impression and idea for listeners to hear the roots of what the band is all about, instrumental, progressive and contemporary is how they could be described as. However they have had more releases since then including their self titled release in 2011,

, TRIPS
(2016),
BOUNDLESS
(2018) and
HOW DO WE WANT TO LIVE?
(2020). So with a new album on the way now as the year of 2022 is over halfway,
