Goats of Doom
This Finnish quintet is a fine example as Black Metal limits can be expanded when you have guts to do so.
Until The Lights Go Out
Freedomination
If you're not into Thrash Metal, beware; if you're into, this Finnish quintet's music is a delight!
Rift in Reality
Labyrinthus Stellarum
Overall, this was a fantastic album. The combination of raw aggression with a seasoned, polished approach to melody really made it stand out for me, and it tickled both bones…my need for brutality, and my need for melody.
The Hidden Hymnal – Chapter 2
Void King
Let’s start with the positives…the bass work is excellent, and when it takes center stage, it can lead with the best of them. The music was OK…nothing overly new or creative here. The vocals at times failed to connect with some of the music, creating what I am assuming is an unintentional dissonance. Overall, just a mediocre album for me.

Kiritsis
Kiritsis
Overall, this is an example of how powerful no bones, no punches pulled, straight up Sludge Metal can be. The riffs aren’t overly complicated, and the vocals make the point…shut up, or I am going to stick my whole fist down your throat.
Awakening (Reissue)
Hexenhaus
“Awakening” is the only one of the three rereleases that is benefitting from an extra song, knowingly the demo version of the title track “Awakening”. Was that necessary? Not really. Is it a nice touch? Yes, definitely.
The Edge Of Eternity (Reissue)
Hexenhaus
“The Edge Of Eternity” actually was the second album for the band. Originally released on 1 November 1990, while this one hit the streets on 16 may 2025. It houses a lot more Thrash influences than the debut album, making it just that tad less impressive for me. But the music that HEXENHAUS plays still is Progressive Metal with Thrash and (this time less) Heavy Metal parts to complete the sound.
A Tribute To Insanity (Reissue)
Hexenhaus
A Tribute To Insanity” actually was the debut album for the band. Originally released on 17 October 1988, while this one hit the streets on 16 may 2025. It immediately starts with the kind of music that defines HEXENHAUS; Progressive Heavy/Thrash Metal. If you need a reference, think a less extreme version of MEKONG DELTA mixed with snippets of OVERKILL and early METAL CHURCH.
A New Order
Toranaga U.K.
UK Thrash metal EP. That is in short what TORANAGA UK is throwing into our laps with “A New Order”.
Steel, Rust and Disgust
Midnight
. I like the punky attitude of many of the songs on “Steel, Rust and Disgust”, which for me has given me an extra insight into who or what has helped to form what MIDNIGHT has become over the years.
20 Years Of The Music Man
Chris Caffery
We all know who CHRIS CAFFERY is, or at least where he got his notoriety. If you don’t, you’re not very knowledgeable about SAVATAGE or TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA. He has recorded some 2 EP’s and 6 albums under his own name and it is that era that he is celebrating by releasing a double compilation album “20 Years Of The Music Man”.

The Stillness of Dissolution
Austere
Although at its core this is Black Metal, it is so much more. AUSTERE have stretched the boundaries of the genre, explored uncharted territories, and walked into the very void itself with this album. The song structures are intelligent, and intricate, and each note comes from someone who has a clear vision of the album.
Menedék
TÖRZS
At first glance, you may find this collection of five songs to be melancholy or even sad offerings. That is true, but the depths that they explore seem to know no bottom. Each song does indeed inspire self-reflection, and sometimes, with just a few notes, your eyes are opening to endless possibilities. You need a full set of breaths to explore what the band has laid out for you here, so take in a deep one, and take the plunge.

Espresso Della Vita: Lunare
Maestrick
In sum, their musicianship is out of bounds, ridiculous, and off the charts. The songs themselves are rich tapestries of musical energy, almost like a ball of fire that seems to gain steam with each cycle its roll. There are warm messages of happiness, hope, and an undeniable positive spin on life. This is an album that can lift you up when you are not feeling so amenable to life. Sit back, play it, and end the listening experience with a smile.

Horror Vacui
Sick N’ Beautiful
“Horror Vacui” is a delivery of everything the bands stand for: an unpredictable mixture of alternative, modern, and industrial Metal with powerful guitar work and an excellent vocalist, who is driving the whole album sound
Shadows Warning
Power Surge
"Shadows Warning” is largely based on classical Heavy Metal, but with a modern Metal sound. Many of the tracks are relatively fast and dynamic., with the guitar riffing and the lead guitar solos being the album highlights
Nightsteel
Nightsteel
NIGHTSTEEL offers up a solid slab of Power Metal with their self-titled debut. Fans of 80’s metal should be all over this one.
Generation X
Powerhill
POWERHILL’s “Generation X” is a smirky salute to 80’s Heavy Metal. It clearly doesn’t take itself too seriously but still delivers.
Infinite Presence
Genune
The album features doses of Post Black and Blackgaze elements that hint at the future of this genre, and not wanting to remain still, they band shifts the sound constantly throughout the album so that, as a listener, you never know what may be around the corner. Sometimes it’s a cold bite of harsh vocals, and other times, it’s a freshly washed feeling that comes from clean, melodic passages, and the two are balanced impeccably.
New Wilderness Gospel
Lux Interna
The deep blue colors and forest landscape of the album cover hold some of the keys to the sound on the album. It might be a reminder of the power of nature, or even its importance. It could be a warning of what happens if humanity continues down the path of destruction. The really intriguing part of the album is how the band fuses a sound from the past with hints of the future. For me, it’s a slow burn, but the more I listen, the deeper the connections.

Irreverence of the Divine
Insineratehymn
Besides the quartet needs to evolve, this release brings to Old School Death Metal fans a good set of songs.
Die Hölle ist hier
Eisenkult
Wow, these German Black Metal guys are up to something great!
On Day Seven He Regretted
Dosgamos
A surprising mix between Modern Metal tendencies with other Metal genres turns this release a tasteful experience.
Of Vile and Hate
D.E.A.D
A fine first coming from this Death/Thrash Metal international band.
Disgust
Cannibal Accident
A very good Grindcore release from these Finnish maniacs.
Zenith
Bleed From Within
BLEED FROM WITHIN deliver powerful Metalcore mixed with a characteristic atmospheric sound and dark melodies. “Zenith” is driven by the guitar riffing and the relentless drumming, however, on top of it sits a vocalist, who keeps the songs expertly together
Phantom Of Reality
Chontaraz
CHONTARAZ deliver a multifaceted Metal album. “Phantom Of Reality” does not follow a traditional Heavy Metal path. The album incorporates many different styles and elements ranging from industrial to Gothic Metal
Even in Arcadia
Sleep Token
The thing that strikes me most about the album is the shift towards a more R&B sound, and it is more evident than ever before. They hinted at it on the last album in a few songs, but on this album, nearly every song has that thread running through it. There are plenty of heavy moments on the album, but let me make a distinction...it’s not that the album “is not Metal enough for me,” as I am no gatekeeper, but it’s rather than the album is too close to other genres that I just don’t listen to. Metal? Yes. Rock? Yes. Pop? Bring it on. Rap? No thank you. R&B? No. It’s hard to say if the signing to a major label brought about the change to a larger audience, or whether this was just a natural progression of the band. It looks like two more years of waiting .
