De Nemesis Omnes et Omnia
Antiversum
For me, the album takes place during a period of time when man tries to claim what belongs to nature. Since it’s a cold slab of land way up North, man thinks it will be an easy claim. But nature always wins. She fights back subtly, but hard, with a variety of weapons at her disposal. Over time, she not only beats back man, but murders man and covers it up, returning the order as it was established, and waiting patiently for the next group of adventurers.
Light the Devil’s Fire
Revelator
Overall, this was a solid listening experience for me. Although the band isn’t trying to reinvent the genres, and some of the riffs you have heard before, they present them with an unbridled energy and belief in their craft.
As I Wait For Death
Behind Bars
What BEHIND BARS brings to the turntable is over 17 minutes of very enjoyable music that does fit in the Groovy Thrash Hardcore Metal category, so Metalheads as well as Hardcore fans will be able to go crazy when they listen to BEHIND BARS.
The Devil's Masquerade
Helstar
The music on “The Devil's Masquerade” also is just about the best that I have heard from HELSTAR in a long time. This is pure class.
Perpetual Violence Machine
Hydra Vein
The songs on “Perpetual Violence Machine” will have you participating for as far as your brain, but most of all your body, allows you. It has that kind of magnetism that makes what HYDRA VEIN plays sound and feel almost addictive, but most of all that good that you are wondering why they stopped at making just an EP.
Fiber Tormentum
Matt Miller
The songs on “Fiber Tormentum” are rather good, and make for very interesting listening sessions.
Death of Don Valley
Ivy Gardens
I heard many of the dark, heavy, and oppressive tones, but not many uplifting moments. That’s fine, because I like music that is dark and makes you have to wade in the muck to find its true meaning. What I discovered in the end is that this is dark music for dark music’s sake, and was also an enjoyable listening experience for me.
Duskborn
Indren
This wasn’t a bad album, by any stretch of the imagination, but its colors were too faded to stand out in the crowd. The song titles were great, and so were its themes, but the music just felt a bit flat to me.
Astralis
Azell
Overall, this was a delightfully sludgy album that definitely had elements of both doom and anger in it, and working through some of the songs, that feeling grew worse with each new offering. The production was spot on, because it gave the album a filthy, greasy feeling. Space Sludge, indeed.
Přílišnost
Kostnatění
This was a delightfully wicked album. Mostly on the harrowing and frightening end of the genre, the industrial sounds gave the album an edge like a razor sharp blade, designed to plunge you in the chest and pull your organs out.
Sunsetter
All Hell
Vicious Blackened Thrash out the Blue Ridge Mountains. Intertwines Thrash, Death, and Black with lethal intent. A must for extreme metal fans.
Metamorph
Witchrider
Metalheads may appreciate it, especially those into Stoner and Psych; Rock fans will have zero reasons to object and plenty of reasons to approve.
Breath
Außerwelt
Overall, this album pushes both torture and terror nearly every step of the way. There are indeed time for moment of reflection, but during that time, there is no absolution. It’s only a constant reminder of the pain we collectively feel and live with each day.
Sorrow Will Drown Us All
Recorruptor
“Sorrow Will Drown Us All” delivers a blast-beat hammering with punishing guitar riffs and crushing basslines
Leave The Flesh Behind
Ashen
“Leave The Flesh Behind” comes out from the abyss. It is a blood-freezing delivery, driven by devastating guitar riffs, crushing basslines, and bone-chilling melodies
Eternal Darkness
Eternal Darkness
Eternal Darkness (Sweden) cult following from the early ’90s this album was 30+ years in the making. Better Late Then Never
Moonlight Pyromancy
Argesk
I found the band’s use of aggression to be every bit as strong as their sense of melody, and not a lot of albums achieve that balance. Each time you may have though they were leading you into the abyss, a welcomed hand grabbed you and pulled you back. This is a Black Metal album for those who like melody in addition to fury.
Outward Stream of Devotional Woe
Unsouling
This was a Black Metal album that expands your definition of the genre. At times, it has fierce aggression, while at others, it is more solemn. The artist also mixes in some Post element to keep in modern. I invite you to take in the “Onward Stream of Devotional Woe” and discover some of its secrets for yourself.
Ruina Draconis
Smohalla
The album takes full advantage of everything that modern day Black Metal can offer fans, and then some. It is indeed layers, nuanced, and complicated at times, but the familiar ring of keyboard notes help to keep it accessible. The musicians, are fantastic, as is their adventurous sense of songwriting. This is an album that smartly takes a few listens to fully explore, and even then, there is more waiting to be discovered.
Atomik Train
Atomik Train
Canada has given the world three of my favorite pass times, hockey, drinking beer and eating bacon, and two of the three I am considered a pro. They also know how to rock and roll, so let me put my beer and bacon down as I drop the needle on the latest import ATOMIK TRAIN.
Random.Access.Misery
Mélancolia
One thing is sure, MÉLANCOLIA are an angry bunch. Well, singer Alex Hill certainly is. I keep wondering how anyone can keep up this level of aggression for 34:10 minutes without literally spilling their guts all over the studio floor.
The Fourth Decade
Ravenous
I wasn’t expecting RAVENOUS to rock my world or make me giddy with excitement when listening to “The Fourth Decade”, but I am happy to report that although I was right about that, they have surprised me in a very positive way by being a lot better than I anticipated.
Alchemists
This I Owe
Let me take away any doubts; if you like Melodic Heavy Metal with some extra influences thrown in, you might just like what THIS I OWE is bringing on “Alchemists”. This album already was available to the public from 25 February 2025, but now Iron WormHoleDeath have stepped in with their extensive network to help the band to gain international recognition.
Exode
Cratophane
I found the somewhat complicated description of the sound above to be exactly what I heard on the album. I used the word “groove” rather liberally, but it was the one constant through an album that ran the gamut from Progressive Metal to Sludge Metal, to Psychedelic fuzz, and everything in between. In the end, it was just very pleasing to listen to.

Asymmetry
Wheel Of Time
Progressive Metal of this high calibre and quality needs to be heard by every Prog enthusiast, but also by every Melodic afficionado. The songs are all bloody brilliant, to say the least. The production is clear and transparent, but also very clean. It means that although this is Progressive Metal, the ProgRock fan should also be able to enjoy what WHEEL OF TIME is offering on “Asymmetry”.
Changelings
Species
There is no two ways about it; this is good. Musically you just can’t fault SPECIES on “Changelings”. They have their brand of Progressive/Technical Thrash/Death Metal down like a pro.
We Stand United
Eleine
I can not deny that the title song of this EP, “We Stand United”, doesn’t impress. I really love the way the band has been able to mix their Symphonic and Melodic Metal with Groove and attitude. Because there is no way around the fact that the track is full of all of the mentioned attributes, making it a very impressive song.
Coronation of the Grotesque
Castrator
This is brutality with purpose, groove with venom, and death metal with a spine of steel

Aeons
When I think the possibilities of alien life, it always excites me, and the Fermi Paradox comes to mind. I maintain that given the trillions of starts in our galaxy, and the trillions of galaxies in the universe, alien life is a mathematical certainty. The album’s journey reflects these themes, together with sophisticated songwriting, outstanding musicianship, and complexity. Perhaps its greatest strength however is how well the band ties these things together, into a cohesive whole, that the listener can reach out and grab.
Receptor
Dissona
The album isn’t just about showing off technical prowess, though there is no shortage of dexterous riffing, polymetric drumming, and intricate bass lines. The technicality exists as a vessel that is built to carry an immense weight of melody and emotion. But there is no denying the sheer technical command on display. Time signatures bend and fold like metal under heat, solos uncoil with jaw-dropping fluidity, and the rhythm section acts like a living machine, precise but never mechanical. The virtuosity never loses its human touch; you can feel the sweat and soul behind the notes. It’s music that pushes forward intellectually, but also pierces inward spiritually.
The Mind’s Eternal Storm
Echoes of Gloom
Overall, this was an enjoyable album, and considering it was all made by just one artist makes it that much better. It was in the vein of traditional Black Metal, but Dan kept things fresh with elements of Doom and even some atmospheric passages. This was a promising debut album and a band to keep an eye on.
Desolate Devine
Proscription
A behemoth of woe? Indeed. The riffs lumber forward like an unstoppable giant, each note dragging with it the heaviness of a world undone. The atmosphere is colossal, suffocating in its scale, and the vocals echo with the cries of something ancient and eternal, less a performance than an invocation of loss itself. For me, it’s a reminder that behind the monster of despair lurks the very real weight of lived pain.
Decadence of Ego
Chelmno
Black Metal purists may like this album. I understand where the FWOBM sound came from, and why it formed, but I am more of a fan of the expansive fans in the genre and what they are doing today. This just feels like a few steps back into time for me, and I say, let the past stay in the past.
Red
Banderstadt
BANDERSTADT is able to give you quite varied and good quality songs that have depth, are full of soul but in the end are pure Metal that moves, that enthrals the way it should. The Folk aspects in the music add a beautiful layer that has me very much in awe of “Red” as an album and therefore with BANDERSTADT as a band.
