Resurrection
Do Or Die
Well, if you were wondering whether DO OR DIE is still a Hardcore band, any doubt you might have had will have disappeared after a few seconds, as this is like anything they have done before; Hard, Heavy, Hardcore, Uncompromising. The sound is relentless, which really works with the almost hysterical sounding vocals.
Megamantra
Black Magnet
Overall, the album seemed to encompass several styles of music, keeping it alive and constantly moving, including Punk, Sludge, Industrial, and Hardcore. I also found the album nearly exactly as advertised…harsh and infectious at the same time. I understand why the songs are on the shorter side, because they are packed full of density. This was a swift kick in the teeth.
Fyr
Gaupa
And just like that I have a new favorite band.
Dream and Violence
Killjoy
Personally, I’d count this as a demo.
Gamma II
Alfa Pentatonik
This was a solid EP. Through five songs, they band presents a firm weight with the music and vocals, but also some playful electronics. The album is well balanced in that regard. My interest in the band was piqued through five cuts, and I look forward to hearing a long play from here.
Rituals
Demeted
After three years of silence, DEMETED return with force, breaking through the stillness with their […]
I Am Chaos
Chaos Unleashed
“I Am Chaos” offers a mixture of modern and traditional Thrash Metal elements with a few Hardcore twists
Humanihility
Vader
“Humanihility“ is a delivery of Death Metal excellence enriched with plenty of classical Thrash Metal vibes
Dawn Of Destruction
Lucille
LUCILLE deliver traditional Thrash Metal at high quality and intensity. “Dawn Of Destruction” has pace, aggression, flesh-ripping guitar riffing, and chilling melodies
Only When It Rains
Twist Of Fate
Twist Of Fate was started around the summer of 1994. The founding members were, Tim […]
The Fates Key
Blades Edge
After the release of two EP'S "Witch Spells" in 2022 and "Cursed Blade" in 2023. […]
Repoka
Dusk
The EP was basically three songs and a cover, but I felt like I got a good hard look into the album. It could have been the accompanying soundtrack to the movie Hostel. That’s how creepy and tortuous it sounded. They crushed the bottom end of each song, and I would be very interested to hear what they release next.
Port Inspiro
Heathens Eye
Heathens Eye is a new Swedish Melodic Metal band which draws many different influences from […]
The Radiant Vale
Hemelbestormer
This was a positively doomed album that reveled in tones of grey, black, and stank of death…that cancerous smell is something you can never get out of your nostrils. They displayed a life of loneliness, hopelessness, and regret, to which there is no going back.
The Book of Hours
Agropelter
Without vocals, the album demands that you listen closely to catch all of the many different nuances present. Is it a challenge? Yes and no. First, I played it and listened intently. But the second time, I just let the music play and didn’t over analyze. Either method produced the same result…a pleasurable listening experience and reverence for the composer.
Xenotaph
Fallujah
The album a seamless fusion of intricate technical ability and rich, emotive melody. Every track is a testament to the band’s deep understanding of their instruments, not just as tools of performance, but as vessels of expression. It feels like the work of artists who have spent years honing their skills, not just to impress, but to communicate something real. It’s a record that bridges the gap between complexity and accessibility, offering something for both the musician dissecting its structure and the listener seeking connection.
Everlasting Wisdom of the Ancients
Sigorsped
This wasn’t a bad album by any means, but too many of the songs just sounded similar, and the band didn’t push themselves any further from the FWOBM bands that started things off.
Damned Genesis
High Speed Death
High Speed Death was a pretty well-known underground band. If you were around the 80s […]
Tales of Blood
Chamber of Mirrors
If you are a fan of old school, FWOBM inspired Black Metal, this album is for you. It is intense, raging, and uncompromising. For those of us who aren’t rooted in the traditions of the genre however, this album might not be for you.
Agony Eternal
Sarastus
The intensity of the album is noteworthy, and their musicianship is excellent, but, unfortunately, the diversity of the album doesn’t meet either of the preceding things.
Lord of Nightmare
Endless Dismal Moan
It played (and prayed) on the listener’s fears by bringing them to life in front of your eyes, leaving little to the imagination. It’s a black hole…a blood stained room that you can only see with a blacklight…and a face so ugly, it could turn you to stone.
Slaves of the Wolf
Bear Mace
Chicago’s five-piece, Bear Mace, return with Slaves of the Wolf, their third and fully weaponized […]
Armageddon
Warkings
The Kings of War on Heavy/Power Metal are back with a great release.
Culto
Infection Code
And these Death Metal veterans are still teaching very good lessons.
The Moral Chokehold
Death Rattle
Groove Metal as it must be can be heard on this excellent release.
Schauder
Dagdrøm
Wow, what great Black Metal release from thie beginner!
Nocturne
Bell Of Mimir
A good Doom Metal act that must improve its efforts on the recordings. But a good band.
Laio
Balmog
And even after all these years, these veterans on Black Metal are still doing great!
Primacy Arrival
Axiom Chaos
O good first coming from a promising new Brutal Death Metal act.
White Widdow (Reissue)
White Widdow
As for “White Widdow” (2010), I can tell you that it sounds rather good from start to finish. The musicians in the band are very capable, know where to play but also when to either tone it down or even keep quiet.
Serenade (Reissue)
White Widdow
Only a year after the release of the WHITE WIDDOW debut album “White Widdow” in 2010, they were back with their sophomore album “Serenade”. Like the debut (and their other albums) it was originally released through AOR Heaven. Now, some 14 years later, Pride & Joy Music Classixx has taken the time to re-release the first three, and added a bonus track on each one.
Crossfire (Reissue)
White Widdow
Four years after their debut album “White Widdow” (2010), and three years sophomore album “Serenade” (2011), WHITE WIDDOW came back again by releasing another studio album, this time named “Crossfire” (2014). And after those first two albums the band needed to pull out all the stops to make sure they improved what was already there.
Cryptic Aura
Azure Emote
“Cryptic Aura” is a smart blend of several Death Metal genres including technical, progressive, and symphonic Death Metal
The Constant Void
Philosophobia
This was a well-composed album that I found as close to as advertised as possible. The band’s musicianship is probably their strongest feature, followed closely by their sense of grandiose (at times) songwriting. One of the better surprises on the album are the gentler songs, that just feature one main melody. Simplicity can indeed be elegant. The album combines the best of what Progressive music has to offer its fans, and I found the listening experience to be excellent.
Das Lied Der Steinernen Engel
Mystopera
An epic adventure of the Pagan Viking sort with a sea voyage, lots of fighting and maybe a funeral, then more sea voyaging and even more fighting follow by something about honor and death and then maybe some furious vengeance and some sort of heroic ending.
Through the Endless
Eternal Dissonance
If you need a distraction from the world by, say, contemplating the bleak sameness of the never-ending void, “Through the Endless” might do you some good.
