Major Arcana
Novembers Doom
In every way, this was an good album, and seeing that it is the band’s twelfth release, they did play it a bit safe. I get it…fans get used to a certain sound and that is what they want, what they expect. I’m not asking the band to shed their skin completely, but a taking a few more small chances might help the album to stand out a bit more.
Transitional Objects
Headless
Overall, this was a good listening experience. The band is talented, but they don’t let their technique steal the thunder away from their melodies and harmonies. It was a promising release, and I hope to hear more from the band soon.

Doomerism
Aganoor
It's hard to believe this is the first album from AGANOOR—they sound like seasoned veterans of the forever metal psychic wars.
The Silence That Binds Us
Falling Leaves
Overall, this was a good album, but it could have been better with more diversity from song to song. In my opinion, they need to take more chances, which can be done while still retaining their sound.
Menetekel
Gorleben
This was a solid listening experience, and I really enjoyed what keyboards brought to their sound. The album was cloaked in foreboding doom and the promise of a marred future for mankind; two things I am sure of, and they told the tale with a measure of warning and haste.
Embers of Dead Embers
Wrath of Belial
Embers of Dead Empires is furious, philosophical, It blends brutal execution, brilliant song structure, if your a fan of The Black Dahlia Murders this one is for you. Wrath of Belial makes it sound effortless.
The Sleeping City
An Abstract Illusion
The album combines the naked ferocity of black and death metal, the elegance of soaring melody, and the sophistication of progressive metal’s structural complexity, yet presenting it all in a way that feels instantly graspable. It speaks to multiple audiences at once. The black/death metal purist will find plenty of savage bite. The melody-driven listener will latch onto motifs that return and evolve with each track. The progressive devotee will marvel at the hidden architecture beneath the surface. Even with all this depth, the music remains immediately accessible. For me, it’s a quantum leap for Progressive Death Metal, and the best album of 2025.

Legions Of Metal
Blutgott
It always is a real treat when you get to review a release by BLUTGOTT. The reason of that being that you get three albums for the price of one. That does sound strange, but there is always a BLUTGOTT album that is pure Heavy metal in all it’s facets, but you also get a BLOOD GOD and a DEBAUCHERY album.
Discharge
Rise Of The Wood
Let me start off with a bit of history first. In 2015 in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands a group of musicians got together and started a new band, which they baptised as RISE OF THE WOOD. And yes, if you are of a dirty mind, that could be exactly why this name was chosen.
Passage I Melancholia
The Great White Nothing
With “Passage I Melancholia”, we tell the story of a man leaving his home and known world behind in search of solace in the most unforgiving of places. This album dives deeply into the stories of 20th century Antarctic pioneers, exploring their hardships and fervour. This is not a concept album per se, but we drew inspiration from historical personal accounts and the desolate landscapes of the Antarctic. We took that awe-inspiring, freezing abyss and brought it to life.
The Devil's Asylum
Vicious Rumors
This is US Metal as it should be played; with conviction and dedication. The guitars really enhance each other’s power whilst still being distinguishable individually. As for singer Chalice, he can reach heights that are almost unnatural for a bloke.
Pilgrims and Psychonauts
Nepal Death
I don’t know if I could hack a live concert from these guys, but as a studio album “Pilgrims and Psychonauts” has positively surprised me.
The Edge
Black Water Rising
I wouldn’t call myself a Stoner Rock lover or connoisseur, but I do love old fashioned Rock and Metal, and even with the contemporary sound that is to be found on “The Edge” I hear enough that makes me travel back in time when everything was done manually, all those expensive and complicated gadgets weren’t available.
Bring Mirrors to the Surface
Zatokrev
Overall, this was an excellent release. The weighted tones were crushing, as was the feeling on your back. The band wants you to carry these burdens with you forever, and remind you how heavy and painful they are.
Time out of Place
Syrinx
Overall, this was a solid listen. Sure, it has a throwback sound, but for those of us who live through those times, it was sentimental. The band is talented…they just need to sharpen things up a bit, and perhaps looking for a new producer.
Human Error
Anger Machine
“Human Error” offers a well composed mixture of traditional Thrash Metal and Groove Metal
Leave The Light Behind
Bloodletter
BLOODLETTER offer a mixture of Thrash Metal and melodic Death Metal with a few melodic Black Metal twists on their fourth album
Violence
Sadistic Goatmessiah
Highly enjoyable this one. The band name and the album cover pretty much say it all. This is unadulterated raw, fundamental Black and Thrash the way that Satan meant it to be.
Further
Solace
If “Further” were to drop today as a brand-new album it would undoubtedly be heralded as one of best albums of 2025. As reissue, it could still hold that honor.
Gigamesh
Korypheus
Overall, this was a solid listen for me. The band has all of the elements you would want from the genre, and are quite talented as well. It’s just a matter of sharpening their efforts a bit for this to go from a good release to an excellent one.
Abgnose
Hasard
If this isn’t one of the most terrifying albums you have ever heard, you may want to pay another visit to the cemetery at night for comparison. All of the ghost, specters, and things that go bump in the night are nothing compared to the visual that this album creates…you may never sleep again.
