YounA - Zornvlouch album cover

When dealing with Black Metal, the fans must understand that there are two main groups of bands: one that use new recording technologies to make something clean, and can even use melodies; and the second, that prefers to state as Black Metal was between 1991 and 1995, rough and crude. And there are excellent works released by both groups. One band that manifests openly its calling to the roots of the genre is the German one man band YOUNA that is releasing its first album "Zornvlouch".

It's truly something that bears the SWOBM musical soul, brutal and somber, in the way that albums as "Under the Sign of the Black Mark", "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas", "Thy Mighty Contract", and "Under a Funeral Moon" trademarked on those days of the past. But this album can be labeled as Old School Black Metal, but the band's music has a personal and feral essence. For Black Metal fans, it's a great release! Mts produced and mixed the album himself, with the mastering being done by Harvest of Eyes. It's crude and really tough, in a way that brings back to the fans the same sonority of the old days. It could be better in many aspects (the guitars are sounding low), but it's not a waste, after all.

Musically, seven deadly Black Metal spears are unleashed on "Zornvlouch". And songs as "Knochen zu Asche, Kronen zu Rost" (very good tempo changes, and amazing crude guitar riffs), "Zornvlouch" (a somber and fast song, with a nasty ambience and very good work from bass guitar and drums), "Tievelsühtic" (another fast and furious attack, with great guitars and vocals), and "Urgewalt" (a truly aggressive and nasty song that bears a set of rhythmic changes that are very good). These are the best ones for a first time on YOUNA's work.

Brutal, fast and old fashioned... It's just what a Black Metal fan that misses the past could ask. "Zornvlouch" was made for you!
