Well, well, what do we have here? A German Death Metal band that sounds like a Swedish Death Metal band of the early 90s? That's what it seems, or at least this is the first thing that we perceive when we come into contact with the music of WOUND, embodied on their debut album "Inhale The Void". The iconic sound of Swedish bands like ENTOMBED and DISMEMBER overflies the full-length. Can also be references to bands like GRAVE, AUTOPSY, AT THE GATES and even DARKTHRONE, considering their first album "Soulside Journey".

The album opens with "Odium", a mostly instrumental piece, which officiates as intro, dark, climatic and with a kind of furious invocation by the vocalist Schettler, anticipating what's coming. "Codex Arcanum" opens the album itself, in the form of rapid and crunchy Death Metal from Swedish school, powerful and fierce. When listening this song, immediately come to mind DISMEMBER and ENTOMBED. A fresh and catchy theme, suitable for headbanging.

"Echoes" bursts with similar potency, but in the middle of the song becomes denser with more groove, which fits well within the proposal of the band. "The Unsolved Obscurity" begins as a mid-tempo song, until accelerates giving way to the discharge of riffs by the guitarist Last. Another invitation to headbanging. "Forever Denial" have a killer start, here are felt with clarity so blast-beats as punk touches on the song structure. Also, the guitar solo has a pretty Rock 'N Roll feeling. "Confess to Filth" is a piece of traditional Death Metal, more in the American way. For its part, "Corroded From Within" exalts the rocker rhythm, as if it were a Death Metal mixed with MOTÖRHEAD until the song slows down and becomes dense, with voices more rotten and very heavy riffs. From the beginning "Among You" has a lot of groove, becoming slower and more intense towards the middle of the song. "The Prince of Tyranny" has a beginning close to Doom Metal, this being one of the best riffs on the disc. The song elapses to mid-tempo, and despite being the largest of the album his listening is very bearable.

"Inhale The Void" closes the album. Curiously, the title track is a beautiful instrumental played with guitar, which reminds me the intros of some songs from METALLICA's "Ride the Lightning" ("Fight Fire with Fire", "Fade to Black", "The Call of Ktulu"). In recent years have been emerged several Death Metal bands with strong influences of Swedish old school. BLOODFIEND and MIASMAL already had been hit me. Now I added to WOUND to my list of consideration.
