Sometimes, when people speak about the origins of the Second Wave of Black Metal, they commit a great mistake: people seem to see that only Norway is a part of such a revolution. And it's not true, because Sweden, Greece, Germany and other countries were breeding very good names on the genre. And Finland as well, BECAUSE BEHERIT, BARATHRUM, THY SERPENT, ARCHGOAT, GLOOMY GRIM and many others helped to set the foundations of Black Metal on Finland, and to create a trademark sound. And the quartet WOLVES OF PERDITION is an heir of their flame, as can be heard on their first release, "Ferocious Blasphemic Warfare".

They're playing an Old School Finnish Black metal form, with fast aggressive moments, but with those nasty and introspective morbid moments as well (as can be heard on "King Death"). It's clean that they have a good technical insight due some contrasts heard on many parts (the guitar riffs heard on "Ventum Mortis" are proof of that), a very good mix between Black Metal shrieks and low grunts, a strong and powerful work on bass guitar and drums. It can be said it sounds as classic Finnish Black Metal, but enriched with very good arrangements and funereal melodies. As a band with such classical approach, they did something that sound crude and harsh, but in a way that is defined and sounds really understandable for everyone. It sound brutal and oppressive (due the choice for nasty instrumental tunes), but in a way that's far from those poor recordings of the early days of the 90's.

"Demon Blood" with its storming-freezing guitars, the fine contrasts heard on "King Death" (the morbid ambiences created by them is really excellent), the morbid and subjective melodies created by the guitars on "Ventum Mortis", the oppressive weight of "End of the Rope" and "And Pain It Shall Be" (both with good works from bass guitar and drums), the massive somber energy that flows from "Tempestate Lucifer" and "REV 13:4" are their finest moments. And to think that "Ferocious Blasphemic Warfare" is only their first album opens an ample range of possibilities to the quartet...
