There's Always Blood at the End of the Road

I don't really remember when or where or if I really saw it in a movie or really experienced it, but one of the cliches that exists about metal is that you listen to it because you want to connect with demons or dark entities; Adding that to some material I just read about the creation of certain frequencies that are very similar to the ones I heard in this album and how they can enable some of these presences to enter our same plane of existence or level of reality and the fact that these has been the first file I have been unable to open normally in all the time I've written for the Metal Temple really started to get the oldest emotion in the history of humanity according to H.P. Lovecraft all over my perception. So, if the goal of this band is to lead you into believing in the fact that shadows can rise from the ground while listening to their music, while feeling some unexplainable energy that can be created with their music, I have to say their goal has been achieved to perfection.
WIEGEDOOD is a Belgian Black Metal band with different elements of experimental lyric and sincerely terrifying and bizarre musical construction. Since the beginning of this album the listener will be accompanied with a felling of unease that cannot be very easily described; The titles of the songs only add up to this sentiment increasing; also, I don't really know many bands hailing from Belgium, to be honest and the fact that they belong to such a rare country adds up to the concept and persona of mystery that this band has had ever since I came across it. Yet, I refused to let my superstitions get the best of me and set my mind to face the journey of listening to such a cold and raw, yet enthralling album as "There's is always blood at the end of the road" by a band whose name is a Dutch word often employed to refer to the unexplainable and sudden death of an infant while sleeping on its cradle.
The vocals of Levy Seynaeve shatter the silence like a specter ready to possess the listener after the opening of the song with one of the most sui generis riffs and drumbeats that I've heard in a while, and though the risk of falling into monotony or being repetitive may be present when listening to this fourth LP by WIEGEDOOD which is a vital example of how the band's direction and mostly personality has been defined just as uniquely as their music and visual concept, two features vital to solidify the future of a band. A lot less atmospheric than their previous work, which I had to check out and I can say I strongly recommend as they result in a quite different environment to what is presented in this new album, an opener of atmospheric portals and an enabler of energetic presences as well as a strong, raw an enigmatic work of musical and creative contriving.
