Texan Thrashers WIDOWER share their debut album that has been eight years overdue, "Cataclysmic Sorcery"! WIDOWER seared a hole into the Thrash scene in 2012 with their first single "Ascension". With frets flying fast enough to cause friction burns while stealing a page or two from Death Metal's low-burning rhythm guitar section, WIDOWER dangles us over fast churning, piranha-infested waters with this respectful nod to the Bay Area. "Cataclysmic Sorcery" is a violent hex eight years in the making and it aims to spare nothing and no one in its wake.

WIDOWER begins things relatively easy for us in "House of the Lord". They spare us the standard long, forboding intro with slow tempos and melodramatic screaming solos, and kick off at a reasonably quick tempo only to jack it up to 11 no longer than a minute later like they injected the drummer with speed while he wasn't looking. And why slow down when we still have eight more tracks to go? That coked-out pace is maintained throughout and is pretty much a staple in WIDOWER's discography.

"Into the Crypt" is a dare to descend into the labyrinthine mausoleums of the restless undead. Try to keep your head above Sterling Junkin's jackhammering drumline that threatens to drown everything. Messy solos reminiscent of SODOM's "Code Red" appear in "Bestial Endowment". Hearing voices? It's just Danny Wrath being possessed by multiple souls in "Mandatory Immolation" and the nasty "Fornicate Upon Mass Graves"; his voice oscillating between Corpsegrinder growls and Adam Clemans' (SKELETONWITCH) beastly shrieks. Planets and stars shake loose from the 1000 level bpm of the tempo in "Cosmic Holocaust". Every track reveals a new heinous crime. WIDOWER reveals a cannibalistic ecosystem of horrors in "Cataclysmic Sorcery" that showcases a unique strain of Blackened Thrash that is no doubt an invasive species that will be hard to get rid of.
