Primordial

What Will Be

I have to say that even though this isn’t even close to my cup of tea, there is no denying that WHAT WILL BE exists of four very good musicians who really gel well together. They know how to complement each other in such a way that it makes the songs sound very good indeed.

When I looked at the list of albums, I saw the name of PRIMORDIAL there. I was elated, as I thought that I would really like to review a new release by this outstanding Irish Metal band. But when I started to listen, I didn't get a mix of Celtic Folk and Black Metal, or as I would say, Extreme Pagan Metal. I got pure and unadulterated Alternative Rock. Not only that, the information sheet that came with the music said that the band was from Manchester instead of Dublin. So, I kept reading and found out that the EP is called "Primordial", while the band in question is WHAT WILL BE. All of a sudden it all made sense. Well, as this was a first encounter with these Mancunians for me, I thought I'd take a chance and go ahead and review it.

I have to say that even though this isn't even close to my cup of tea, there is no denying that WHAT WILL BE exists of four very good musicians who really gel well together. They know how to complement each other in such a way that it makes the songs sound very good indeed. On top of that there are the vocals, and even though Joe Frothingham will never be called an outstanding vocalist, his voice certainly is just about the most fitting one for this kind of Alternative Rock. It makes "Primordial" into a properly executed exercise. There are different songs on the EP, with the opening song "On The Wind" being programmed twice. Once with vocals that can be used on any radio station or streaming platform without having to be censored, the other time a little more direct, better suited to an intimate or home situation.

As for the quality of the songs, how do I measure this? I really don't have any current comparisons to mention. What I can tell you is that I like what I hear on "Primordial". I can only conclude that WHAT WILL BE has that kind of air that will make you listen to them at least once, giving you the chance to make up your mind in your own time. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the songs on "Primordial", even if it's not enough for me to call them an outstanding band. WHAT WILL BE is a very interesting band, if Alternative Rock is your thing.
