W.E.T. - W.E.T. album cover

A project which involves Jeff Scott Soto is always good news to me! Yeah, you may have seen me reviewing mostly extreme Metal releases, but my guilty pleasure is this charismatic frontman who has kicked our asses over and over again with Yngwie Malmsteen, TALISMAN, Axel Rudi Pell, THE BOOGIE KNIGHTS and many more. The fact is that this time he's done it again, since he's working with some well known and talented musicians once more...

Robert Sall, guitarist of WORK OF ART and ECLIPSE's Eric Martensson are Soto's comrades in this journey (what an irony I used this word). These three musicians with the help of some friends started the W.E.T. project, which is actually the acronym for the bands these guys play in. And from the very first time this project came to life, I was damn sure Frontiers would be the right label to release it!

Even though I was kind of negative in the beginning, since Soto's big words (he stated this is the album JOURNEY would have released if he was still in the band) sounded kind of too much, I cleared my mind and sat down to listen to Wet. With a simple, yet perfect for the album cover, a nice production and the combination of such talents, Wet seems like the perfect treat for someone who seeks for a good and pretty tight Hard Rock album. The US melodic guitars with the solid rhythm section and Soto's magical vocal performance, comprise a strong album that seems like an oasis amongst the weak Hard Rock and AOR albums that are being released today. Let me say that W.E.T. are not trying to revive the lost spirit of this sound, this was probably never their intention. They are just playing the music they love and the fact that they love this sound and they are true professionals makes an album like this, an album that you will be listening for a long time to come.

My only objection doesn't have to do with album. More with one of the video clips that was shot for the song One Love. It is such a pity to see accomplished musicians shooting low budget videos, because to be honest, the video kind of sucks.
