Vomit Forth - Seething Malevolence album cover

Off of the back of a successful festival weekend I am back and raring to go I have been saturated with everything from new blood, through to grizzly old veterans. Technical Death Metal, Alternative Indie Prog and some serious Cheese Rock. So, when VOMIT FORTH came across my desk you can bet I was excited to get stuck in once again with another debut album for an up and coming band. Their 11 track debut, "Seething Malevolence" has been long anticipated amongst fans and really, I just want to get this shit rolling! The artwork is fairly non-descript, I mean it doesn't jump out at me, but then it also isn't bland and forgettable so a win there instantly!

Opening is "Untitled" and really this is just to get the blood going, get you as a listener riled up and ready to go before the true first offering explodes to life in the form of "Eucharist Intact". And really, the music does explode to life. With a brutal riffage, and a fast paced furious main body this track will leave you breathless and waiting for more.

It doesn't take long for that more to come, with each track averaging around the two and a half minute mark the record really feels like it is flying through at breakneck speed. But from the furious riffs to the heavy and unrelenting breakdowns there really is a great variety demonstrated by VOMIT FORTH's members and we are only reaching the end of "Pain Tolerance" with Kane demonstrating an impressive range of vocal techniques to really nail down that Brutal Death Metal style that they are going for. Lyrically the tracks are gruesome, and that plays into the genre fairly strongly, as I'm sure many ill be aware of some of the more mainstream(?) or should I say more well known bands such as CANNIBAL CORPSE often go for some slightly unsavoury lyrical options.

As the album rolls through there is clearly a bit of a set blueprint, but each track has its own unique points. The ironically named "Unrecognizable" has a really awesome guitar break that just sold it for me as it helped it to, well really be more recognisable amongst the other tracks on the album!

The album continues to rattle through furious passages interspersed with some really heavy and dense breakdowns. It really does make for some good listening, my only two gripes were the tracks stated to become a little predictable, and either the mixing is slightly off or my speakers are awful (I'm going to go with the latter and give the benefit of the doubt as majority seemed solid!). Overall, it's a really good debut, and something that all who've been involved with producing should be really proud of. Move aside CANNIBAL CORPSE, there's a some fresh blood on the scene and they go by VOMIT FORTH.
