Volturyon - Xenogenesis album cover

VOLTURYON is a Swedish Death Metal band with a lot of technicality on their sound. They have a nice career and they are active since 2006 with a few released on their path. They have recently released their newest album "Xenogesis" and that is what we are going to talk about.

The opening song from the album is "Bloodspattared Banner" that starts with someone breathing and right after there is a cool vocal followed by extremely heavy guitar riffs. The drums
and bass are good, the vocals are awesome as well. It is a very energetic song to start the release. "Mother" has a lot of groove guitars going on and I loved how they mixed up Death Metal influences with something groovier.

"Xenogenesis" is the title track of the album and it starts as aggressive as it could sound, with a very technical and fast instrumental and the harsh vocals going on. That song reminded me of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, and I think that it is a cool thing. This song has different dynamics and that is a great deal.

The next sequence of songs "World Pandemic", "Catharsis", "Memoirs from The Morgue" and "Void" are absolutely destroying, and they kept the energy of the album at high levels. I can imagine that sequence going on at their concert and all the fans just going insane as fuck.

"The Demiurge" sustained what I said on the previous songs, but one of the highlights of that song totally goes to the bass. It helped shaping the song into something different, but with their own identity on it. "Invisible Abomination" have different elements such as a few pieces of what a Black Metal inspired guitar riff at some points can be. "Novichock" has different  approaches and the instrumental reminded me of PANTERA, which shows that this band can totally pull out different genres on their music and still sound good.

"Rancid Messiah" is the song that closes the album and it starts with a nice guitar riff and a few melodies as well. This song mixed everything from the previous song and pulled out a kickass ending to this great album. VOLTURYON did an amazing job on that record and they sure know how to write great music with different influences but maintaining their own identity. The instruments were well played, the vocals are good, the songwriting is cool and the production is really good. They deserve the prize.
