VISCERAL VIOLATION does something that many brutal death metal bands often neglect to think of. They make themselves memorable before you've even heard them. The name and font are brutal yet legible. The album cover is a grotesque killer clown surrounded by slashed up bodies and yet is still artistic and very well done. Whether this was intentional or not is not apparent but the fact remains. It is something that someone would want to listen to just based on these aspects alone. The fact that this is the band's first official full length makes it that much more exciting that they have been together ten years and have now made it their mission to let everyone know what they have to show for it.

The opening track, "Carnival Cannibal", leads the listener to believe that this will be campy horror influenced death metal. Screams and noises of drowning accompany the carnival sounding carousel tune before the lightning fast drums and brutal guitar riffs enter the mix. The production leaves a little something to be desired but the songwriting plain to see. The playing is tight and the song is over before you even know it.

"Taste of Flesh" is full of blast beats, guttural growls and manic, unpredictable riffs that wouldn't be out of place in an early era CANNIBAL CORPSE album. The riffs last just long enough that you can hook onto them but go away quick enough that you always want to listen more. The blasting continues with "Despellejando Vivos" alongside well executed pinch harmonic filled riffs. The playing on this track in particular seems much more refined for the rhythm section and the track feels like it could create monumental pits.
"Visceral Violation" brings attention to the growled vocals, which take the lead on this track. Driving the aggression and brutality with the stellar execution by the vocalist. The dissonant chords create more of an atmosphere among the tri tone laden track and it is an album highlight, for sure. "Violation" is a track that is on a constant launch forward. While other tracks make room for themselves to create some dynamic, this track is constantly becoming more brutal, more intense and more insane. The playing of every instrument is particularly impressive on this track.

Overall, VISCERAL VIOLATION has almost everything that one could ask for from Brutal Death. If you're the type that needs good production to enjoy a band, this may not be for you, but otherwise, it's a great debut and shows that old genres can still impress so many years later. And despite all the great marketing they've done for themselves, they remain extreme and brutal.
