What happens if you make a good combination of some bands like Rhapsody's epic guitars and keys, a Haggard-kind of melody, female vocals, and some good Death Metal growls? Well the answer is Vanitas a promising band from Austria.

This is their first album which to tell you the truth I didn't expect it to be so good, musically speaking. The bad thing is that ALL the lyrics are written in German, and this unfortunately drives away all the English speaking only lyric-learners. Seven tracks in the CD (all in German of course) and each one has its own music character... some of them aggressive from the beginning, some slow with strong outbursts, and some good atmospheric ones.

If someone had asked me to define the kind of metal these guys play I would place it somewhere between Gothic, Death, Black and Melodic Metal included also parts of traditional Metal and even classical music. Good combinations of vocals (brutal and soprano) and with them the good bonding of music makes Vanitas available to spread the feeling they want. As the production is concerned nothing much to say to it...just good, clear and generally worked at.

Das Leben Ein Traum is a good album to listen to, pleasant and full of energy. People who are into this kind of metal music will like it and especially the Haggard fans and even more the German speaking ones!
