Warlord
Tyrants
The record company ALONE RECORDS from Greece sent me this TYRANTS album quite unexpectedly. I started listening to it, and found out that I liked very much what these guys from Medellin, Colombia are capable of producing. I then started to look out for the person who would have reviewed it for our site, and to my astonishment, no one had! So, that was it, I just knew I had to do it.
First off, this is the sophomore album by TYRANTS. Their debut “Kill Or Die’’ was released by the band themselves in 2021. Now, on January 10th, 2024, “Warlord” has been let loose on the world by ALONE RECORDS. Like I said, I liked what I heard straight away, and found that any enthusiast of any combination of Speed and Thrash Metal should be made aware of its existence. Even thought the music only lasts for a little over 34 minutes, it gives you enough scope to experience their very alluring and contagious album.
I will set one thing straight, though. They haven’t reinvented the wheel, “Warlord” is not trying to outplay or outsmart any other bands and/or albums when it comes to intensity, speed or roughness. No, TYRANTS are trying to pave their own path, and with the music they are presenting us with on “Warlord” they are doing a very fine job. I like the way that these guys know when to speed up, slow down or even completely let loose. Ans as they vary that from tune to tune, none of the songs on the album ever get boring or too predictable. Of course, the more you listen to “Warlord”, the more you know what’s coming, but it does take you (or at least me) several listens to arrive at that point.
TYRANTS was a completely new band for me when I started listening to it. Now, though, they sound like a band that I would love to see live and hear more from. And yes, the sooner the better. “Warlord” has really got me hungry for more of this kind of Speed and Thrash Metal. I hope that TYRANTS will have the courage and (most of all) opportunity to come over to this side of the Atlantic Ocean to demonstrate their abilities to us, the always hungry (in my case) for new stuff European Metal community. I can guarantee them that I will definitely wish to be part of that experience.
