TYRANT's CURSE is a Hard Rock band from Germany. With no information provided in their EPK, and no information on their Facebook page, very little information on their Bandcamp page, I had very little to go on here. So, we will let the music do the talking. "Ego Shooter" leads off the album. It begins with a slow grind that leads to the signature Power Metal style. The vocal are OK...but are not totally connected with the music. The harmonies in the chorus are nice, however.

"Another Fallen Angel" opens with a fast-moving riff, but the instrumentation is just a bit on the thin side. The mid-tempo pacing gets a little old through two tracks. The lead guitar work leaves a little to be desired. "How to Kill a Lie" begins with clean guitars and some melancholy tones. A little more of this would go a long way. But, the mid-tempo, chugging riff comes in soon thereafter. They dial up the emotions in the chorus...it's nice and rich. "Fall of Icarus" opens with a raucous riff and some double kick drum. The main riff however is not anything original, and again the overall sound is thin. It's a little thicker in the chorus, and the longing sound that develops mires most of the tracks so far.

"Modern Babylon" is yet another mid-tempo song. You know it's coming...the album suffers mostly from the "mid-tempo blues," where each track features the same pacing. It really holds the album back from getting off the ground. The riffs are a bit tougher here, but not remarkable overall. "Anthem of the Weak" is...you guessed it...another mid-tempo, bland song with boring riffing but with a fuller sound in the chorus. Through six tracks so far, this album is mired with the same sound in nearly every track. "Evolution of Progeny" begins with a slow, lumbering sound. It develops into another tough riff, but it isn't anything that you haven't heard before.

"Nightmares" is another mid-tempo bruiser that again, does not get off the ground. This sound is quite elementary, and the constant double kick drums also gets old after a while. I do hear some IRON MAIDEN type harmonies in some of the lead work, but it's unimpressive. "What's Left of Me" is a tender song that finally breaks the cycle of mid-tempo songs over and over again. The vocals are more pensive here, and I like the gentle sway of clean guitars. However, the sound is quite repetitive. "Fields of Gold" closes the album. It begins with a low, powerful riff and some lead guitar pyro. It falls pretty quickly into the "mid-tempo" trap. God damn...this really holds the album back from going anywhere, really.

Meh...this album was mediocre at best. As I mentioned above, nearly every track suffers from the mid-tempo blues. That, combined with the whiny nature of many of the vocals just did not make much of an impression on me. Fans of Power Metal I do not believe would find much here to connect with.
