Fate Weaver

Typhus

If I had to write a conclusion in a few short words , it would be that “Fate Weaver” is a solid album that will appeal to a lot of lovers of Heavy, Power and Speed Metal. If TYPHUS works on their writing and is able to improve with time, I feel that they can reach a really big audience.

Here we have another band from Athens in Greece. They do love their Traditional Metal in that area. Now the band I am about to review is TYPHUS. That isn't their original name. when they started out in 2009, they were called NUCLEAR TERROR. Under that name they released the 2014 EP  "Contaminated Salvation". They decided to change that to TYPHUS in 2019 and with this name they released their debut album "Mass Produced Perfection" way back in 2020. Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of having heard any material of that album. We have had another five year wait, and now it is time for their sophomore album "Fate Weaver". It even has a traditional running time with 43:10 minutes, in which you get Heavy/Power metal with Speed Metal influences thrown at you. And yes, that does include the higher pitched vocals which often have overdubs, causing you to listen to two similar voices simultaneously.

What disappoints me is that the record company Sleaszy Rider SRL has labelled the music as TYPHYS. That is quite an error, and that needs to be rectified asap. At least the name on the EPK is spelled right, otherwise I would have been wondering whether they knew which band they actually contracted. But I am sure now that I am listening to the right TYPHUS and I have to admit that this is not exactly a punishment, as this is uplifting music with a positivity and enthusiasm which is very fetching and contagious. What helps is the fact that "Fate Weaver" is able to combine the traditional Metal music with a contemporary sound. It makes listening to this TYPHUS record a really easy task.

As for the music itself, it is of a decent standard. The songs all have been constructed with a sound structure, with enough breaks and variety to stay interesting. Never does it become boring or dull in any way or form, but neither does it lift me to the heights that would make me shout my adoration from the rooftops. Everything is caught in between those two extremes. But if I had to write a conclusion in a few short words , it would be that "Fate Weaver" is a solid album that will appeal to a lot of lovers of Heavy, Power and Speed Metal. If TYPHUS works on their writing and is able to improve with time, I feel that they can reach a really big audience.
