Twins Crew - Twin Demon album cover

TWINS CREW formed in 2005, by the David and Dennis Janglov brothers. Their first self-titled EP was released in 2007 and now they strike back with the Twin Demon EP. By listening to it I thought once again how many remarkable bands are out there, putting their souls on their music and yet still looking for a record deal.

Twin Demon is a nifty example of what these guys are capable of. They get all the elements, from N.W.O.B.H.M till US Heavy metal. 777 opens  this  EP and the first sound draws the thought that here we are dealing with good stuff; maybe it is because the intro is so similar to JUDAS PRIEST's bridge in Nightcrawler, don't know. What is for sure is that generally this album doesn't let you down. Twin Demon, which follows with IRON MAIDEN/MERCYFUL FATE lead guitars and really heavy rough riffs, drives you more curious about these newcomers (I'd say) from Sweden. Legions Of The Dead is German Heavy Metal school (see HELLOWEEN) with a pinch of JAG PANZER, while Heavy Metal Nation skips to the Island, as it has lots of N.W.O.B.H.M elements here, from SAXON and in the end a DIAMOND HEAD-like part, (the Am I Evil intro). In Fire Of Anger you can distinguish the IRON MAIDEN influences more clearly and in The End Of Forever the HELLOWEEN-influenced lead guitars with MAIDEN rhythm parts, plus the narration that adds the epic in the sound palette.

So, mostly we could assume that this EP moves between Germany and England. Of course, I suppose that as Sweden has lots of remarkable bands in the Metal field, TWINS CREW will have probably in the back of their head bands like DREAM EVIL and LOST HORIZON. The production suits adequately with the style as it has the demanding dirt in the sound. Last, but not least…an extra plus point: the vocals of Andreas Larsson, as he is equally capable not only of reaching high notes but also in fusing lower lines without escaping from the melody. What else to say...only that this EP leaves me with the anticipation for their full length album. Thumbs up!
