Since the age of Alternative Rock tendencies in the 90s, the Grunge Rock trench of Seattle (USA) caused the rebirth of Rock ‘n’ Roll genres of the 60s and 70s, with tons of new bands taking inspiration of those days to make new music. It’s obvious that many acts are really good, and others don’t deserve a mention (due their bad work). But a very good name on such Old School Rock ‘n’ Roll is the Canadian power trio TUMBLE with their new release, the full-length “Lost in Light”. Produced by Ian Blurton and the band itself, with Ian taking care of the recordings and mixing at ProGold, with mastering of Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, the ideas for the sonority were to be something organic and far away from studio digital devices as they could, but with a refreshed outfit, and it’s precisely what they reached: everything is simple and straightforward, but understandable at the same time.

The cover is a very good work of Hypnotist Design. The band’s music can be described as an organic blend between elements of Hard Rock, Psychedelic Rock and pre-Heavy Metal, all done with a raw and high adrenalized music that shows traits of the late 60s and early 70s, with bombastic weight (as heard on “Laid by Fear”) and melodies that are easy to be understood and assimilated. It’s filled with a crude energy and honesty, and it’s really addictive.

Fans will deal with a melodic and raw form of music filled with amazing tons of energy on “Laid by Fear” (charming melodies and very good vocals and bass playing), “The Less I Know” (here the weight of Hard Rock is combined with a irresistible groove from the drums), “Dead by Rumour” (the Bluesy touch here is clear, especially on the weight of the guitars), “Sullen Slaves” (a touch of accessibility is heard here, what’s not a sin at all, with very good singing) and “Wings of Gold”. It's not a sin to say that TUMBLE can be one of the best acts in such a form of music today. Listen to “Lost in Light” to experience it yourself.
