In extreme Metal genres, it's not hard to see the same features that every other genre presents. Even the side projects can be found, and usually, on them you'll really find things that aren't linked in any way to their proprietary bands. TRONOS is a very good side project that joins members from NAPALM DEATH and MEGADETH, and comes unleashing a unusual form of music on "Celestial Mechanics".

The trio is the common effort from Shane Embury (bass player of NAPALM DEATH) with Dirk Verburen (drummer of MEGADETH) and the musical producer Russ Russell (well known for his works on Industrial Music). And the trio is a chaotic fusion of Industrial Metal with Stoner Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Doom Metal, Progressive Metal and something more. It's not so simple to label their heavy, melodic, sinister and unexpected music, so call it whatever you want. And besides it's weird and difficult to be assimilated by the senses, "Celestial Mechanics" is truly good. The production of the album was done to allow the band to express itself in an unusual way, but always heavy and clean, with very good instrumental tunes. All is clear to the senses, with the right balance between weight and aggressiveness as well.

Hearing the album is like a lysergic and aggressive dive into Progressive Rock experimental moments. "Walk Among the Dead Things" and "Judas Cradle" can sound as PINK FLOYD and MINISTRY could play a mix between Death Metal and Stoner Rock (very good harsh vocals, indeed); "The Ancient Deceit" points to something more extreme in Metal terms, but with some experimental touches; "The Past Will Wither and Die" brings a fusion of Industrial and Progressive Rock with very good Jazz influenced bass guitar parts; "Birth Womb" is an extreme Metal song in the greater part of time (and with a very good work from drums), and one of the most simple songs of the album; and their experimental version for "Johnny Blade", and old BLACK SABBATH song from "Never Say Die" times, and they did a fine job, making a flaw form those days sounds decent.

Yes, TRONOS seems to be here to stay, so let yourself be drowned by "Celestial Mechanics", and enjoy the voyage.
