Towering - Obscuring Manifestation album cover

Coming to us from the wonderful country of France is TOWERING and their first full length album "Obscuring Manifestation". This amazingly written Death Metal album is sure to hit the spot if you're looking for greatness. With Thom J.S. on Guitar and vocals, Christnacht on guitars as well. Necrovorator on bass and Mortem on drums. "Obscuring Manifestation" is a welcomed album as far as pure Death Metal goes.

The first song "A Ritual of Descent" also has an intro included in it. The beginning has some eerie chanting in the background and what sounds like trickling water. It's definitely creepy as fuck. The guitars are the first to kick in and boy are the down tuned. So far the beginning of this song reminds me of HATE mixed with a little MORBID ANGEL. When I want untainted Death Metal I will surely go to this. "The Poison of Man" is full of sheer brutality. This is the best type of Death Metal, just in your face and unrelenting. The drums are stunning as well as the guitars.  I think the best part is it's straightforward and has no gimmicks.

"Growing Seed of Agony" keeps the ball rolling in this cacophony of brutality. If this song doesn't get you headbanging there is obviously something wrong with you. There is just a sheer power behind this band and their musicianship. For this being their first full length album this is very impressive. "Monuments To Our End" kicks in like it's wanting to destroy your face. It's a very aggressive and in your face song. I can't tell if I want to bang my head or just get up and start destroying everything around me. It slows down for about a millisecond just to engulf you with some amazing double kicker. I think this is one of the best purely written Death Metal songs of 2019.

"The Calling" will blow you the fuck away. It kicks in and does not give your ears a moment to recollect themselves. I think every single member of this band shines in this song. The breakdown definitely got my blood pumping. "One With the Black Earth" begins with an eerie horn sound that leads into a great guitar riff. I absolutely love the build up that it has.  This is the longest song on the album and one of the darkest. I wish I had a better system to listen to this on but I'm also kinda glad I don't because it would probably knock everything off the walls. The build up continues until finally it's face melting. This is by far one of the most powerful songs I have heard this year. I am utterly in awe of this track.

The final song on the album is "Becoming One With All and Nothing". This is also the second longest song on the album at just over seven minutes. This one is just as powerful as the last. It's just seven minutes of greatness. I am so pleased that I picked this album to review. I will not be done listening to this for a while. I know for a fact this band is going to go places. I hope they end up in America on a tour for real. A few years from now I expect them to be one of the bigger Death Metal bands and I am usually right about these things. Good job guys, keep up the great work!
